Hanna Ferlin
Hanna Augusta Ferlin (1870–1947) was a Swedish photographer and suffragist. After a period working as a photographer in Vänersborg, in 1904 she established her own studio in Färgelanda. In addition to portraits, she photographed landscapes of the surrounding area. She was also a keen proponent of women's voting rights, chairing the Färgelanda branch of the National Association for Women's Suffrage (LKPR) until 1913 when she left for the United States. She returned to Färgelanda seven years later, opening another studio. Biography Born in Färgelanda on 15 August 1870, Hanna Augusta Ferlin was the daughter of the provost Johan Albert Ferlin and his wife Sofia née Söderqvist. She was the youngest of the family's nine children. Suffrage, political franchise, or simply franchise, is the right to vote in public, political elections and referendums (although the term is sometimes used for any right to vote). Vänersborg
Vänersborg () is a locality and the seat of Vänersborg Municipality, Västra Götaland County, Sweden with 23,882 inhabitants (out of a municipal total of 39,591) Until 1997 it was the capital of Älvsborg County, which was dissolved in 1998. Since 1999 Vänersborg has been the seat of the regional parliament of Västra Götaland County. The city is located on the southern shores of lake Vänern, close to where the river Göta älv leaves the lake. History A marketplace was established at Brätte at the southern end of Vassbotten (southernmost part of Vänern), south of modern Vänersborg, by the end of the medieval period. The National Association for Women's Suffrage ( sv, Landsföreningen för kvinnans politiska rösträtt, LKPR) was a part of the general suffrage movement and the national society for women's suffrage in Sweden. It functioned as a parallel to the :sv: Sveriges allmänna rösträttsförbund, Sveriges allmänna rösträttsförbund (SARF; 'The Swedish League for Universal Suffrage') which was active mainly in acquiring full suffrage for males. The LKPR was a part of the International Woman Suffrage Alliance. Birger Sjöberg
Birger Sjöberg (1885–1929) was a Swedish poet, novelist and songwriter, whose best-known works include the faux-naïf song collection ''Fridas Bok'' (Frida's Book) and the novel ''Kvartetten Som Sprängdes'' (The Quartet That Split Up), a somewhat Dickensian relation about stock-exchange gambling in the twenties, and the frantic efforts to recover. Originally a journalist, Sjöberg wrote songs in his spare time. His debuted as a serious writer with the 1922 publication of ''Fridas Bok'' (Frida's Book), which was both a critical and popular success. Following a series of concert tours, he withdrew from public life and focused on his writing. After his death in 1929, a new series of songs and a selection of poems were published.
