Hank Shermann
Rene Krolmark (born 11 July 1958), better known by his stage name, Hank Shermann, is a Danish musician best known for his work with the heavy metal band Mercyful Fate. Career Shermann started playing guitar in 1977, influenced by the likes of Ace Frehley, Michael Schenker, Uli Roth, K.K. Downing and Glen Tipton. In 1978 he co-founded and performed with the Danish punk band Brats (under the name Hank de Wank), where he first met future bandmates King Diamond and later Michael Denner. The band released one album and was dissolved in 1981 after a disagreement with their record label. In 1981 he formed Mercyful Fate alongside King Diamond, where they deviated from punk music and started to write heavier songs. During this time Shermann composed all the music for 1983's ''Melissa'' and most of 1984's ''Don't Break the Oath'', widely considered Mercyful Fate's most seminal albums. Mercyful Fate
Mercyful Fate is a Danish heavy metal band from Copenhagen, formed in 1981 by vocalist King Diamond and guitarist Hank Shermann. Influenced by progressive rock and hard rock, and with lyrics dealing with Satan and the occult, Mercyful Fate were part of the first wave of black metal in the early to mid-1980s, along with Venom and Bathory. Many of the bands from this movement went on to influence later black metal musicians in the 1990s, particularly in Norway. Mercyful Fate has also been cited as a prominent influence on the subsequent heavy metal scene of 1980s and 1990s, including thrash metal bands like Metallica, Slayer, Testament, Exodus and Kreator, and death metal bands such as Death, Morbid Angel, Obituary and Cannibal Corpse. Don't Break The Oath
''Don't Break the Oath'' is the second studio album by Danish heavy metal band Mercyful Fate, released in 1984. The style Mercyful Fate employed on ''Don't Break the Oath'' resembled a mixture of heavy metal with progressive elements, lyrically preoccupied with Satan and the occult and distinguished by King Diamond's theatrical falsetto vocals. Although very influential to future black metal bands due to its lyrical content, the music itself is more reminiscent of traditional heavy metal. The album was remastered and subsequently re-issued on Roadrunner Records in 1997. This reissue came with the bonus track "Death Kiss (Demo)", which would eventually evolve into the album's lead-off track, "A Dangerous Meeting". ''A Matter of Attitude'' is the second album by Danish rock band Fate, released in 1986. The album was in the hook-filled melodic hard rock/pop metal vein, featuring tight vocal harmonies over a strong rhythm section, guitar, and sweeping synthesizer. Stylistically it was like Europe with a bit more bite. "Won't Stop" was the album's first single, and the track was also released in an extended 12" remix version. The album was almost entirely hard-driving rockers, without the power ballads of many other bands of the genre. ''Dead Again'' is the sixth studio album by Danish heavy metal band Mercyful Fate, released in 1998 by Metal Blade Records. It marks the first album from Mercyful Fate that Michael Denner is not present on. ''In the Shadows'' is the third full-length studio album by Danish heavy metal band Mercyful Fate. It is the first offering of the band since their reunion in 1992. This would be the final full-length album Timi Hansen would appear on before his death in 2019. The album was released in 1993 via Metal Blade Records. Unlike previous Mercyful Fate albums, which were entirely centered around lyrical themes of Satanism and the occult, the lyrics on this album are rather focused on more conceptual horror-themes, akin to King Diamond's work with his eponymous band. The band would not return to a primarily occult/Satanic lyrical approach until the band's latest album, '' 9'', released in 1999. The Gibson Flying V is an electric guitar model introduced by Gibson in 1958. The Flying V offered a radical, "futuristic" body design, much like its siblings: the Explorer, which was released the same year, and the Moderne, which was designed in 1957 but not released until 1982.
