Hank FM
Hank FM is the on-air brand name of several radio stations in the United States and Canada. Stations using the Hank FM brand name typically air a country format, in configurations of classic country, contemporary country, or a less tightly-formatted mix of the two. They generally use the slogan (He) Plays Everything Country on their mixed country radio stations, (He) Plays Country Legends on their classic country radio stations or (He) Plays New Country on their contemporary country radio stations. The format was conceived and is owned by Howard Kroeger, creator of the Bob FM format. Kroeger also provides the voice for HANK. The name may be inspired by Hank Williams, a highly influential country singer from the late 1940s and early 1950s whose son Hank Jr. and grandson Hank III also had success as country musicians, each with their own styles. 2005 In Radio
The year 2005 in radio involved some significant events. __TOC__ Events *April 29 – KFRC 610 AM in San Francisco, switches formats as a result of ownership change. KFRC becomes KEAR, the "Sound of the New Life" (Family Radio), a listener-supported, gospel/religious only station. It had been previously KFRC from September 1924 to this date. WKZZ
WKZZ (92.5 FM) is a country radio station licensed to Tifton, Georgia, United States, broadcasting as 92-5 Hank FM. The station is currently owned by Broadcast South, LLC. Recently, the station began running recorded messages stating that "Z92.5 is Dead...Listen Friday at 5pm." As of Thursday March 4, 2010, there was a constant loop of construction sounds pointing listeners to "Tomorrow at 5 o'clock" in reference to March 5, 2010. The following day WKZZ began a stunt where every hour there was a different musical format pointing listeners to "Monday at 5P.M. to find out where the wheel will stop for the final time." WWHK (1450 AM broadcasting, AM) is a classic country radio station licensed to Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, United States, serving the Myrtle Beach area. The station is owned by Dick Broadcasting, through licensee Dick Broadcasting Company, Inc. of Tennessee. Its studios and transmitter are co-located in Myrtle Beach. The station's programming is also heard on FM translator station W288DK (105.5 FM broadcasting, FM). History Amateur radio, Ham radio operators started WTGR, a 250-watt station at 1520 AM, in 1965. Tiger Radio became "the hallmark radio station" for Myrtle Beach, playing Top 40 and beach music. DJs included Billy Smith, Bill Hennecy, Big Al Irvin, Bill Connell, Bruce Miller, Steve Mims and J. Its studios are located in Kettering, Ohio (with a Dayton address) and its transmitter is in New Carlisle, Ohio, northeast of Dayton.
