Haninge Anchors HC
Haninge Anchors HC is a Swedish ice hockey club located in Haninge. The club will play the 2014–15 season in group East of Hockeyettan, the third tier of Swedish ice hockey. The club plays its home games in Torvalla Ishall, which has a capacity of 1000 spectators. Haninge Anchors HC was founded in May 2013 as a merger of the Haninge-based clubs Haninge HF, Vendelsö IK and Västerhaninge IF. Haninge Anchors HC began play in the 2013–14 season of Division 2, the league where Haninge HF left off at the time of the merger. The newly formed club quickly promoted to the third-tier league Hockeyettan Hockeyettan is the third tier of ice hockey in Sweden. Haninge Municipality (''Haninge kommun'') is a municipality in Stockholm County in east central Sweden. Its seat is located in Handen, a part of the Stockholm urban area. Haninge Municipality was formed in 1971 when ''Västerhaninge'' and ''Österhaninge'' were united. The municipal coat of arms depicts a capercaillie from which the name Haninge is believed to have been derived (the German word ''hahn'' means capercaillie), while the anchor symbolizes the naval base in the municipality. Västerhaninge IF
Västerhaninge () is a locality situated in Haninge Municipality, Stockholm County, Sweden. It had 15,134 inhabitants in 2010. It is connected to Stockholm by commuter rail. Västerhaninge borders the large Hanveden forest to the north, the Jordbro locality to the east, an agricultural region to the south, and the Tungelsta area to the west. The locality lies 22 km from Stockholm and 6 km from Handen. Districts of the locality include Åbylund, Norrskogen, and Jägartorp in the north, and Ribbyberg and Nedersta in the south. The Stockholm-Nynäs railway runs through the town, and the original station building was demolished to make way for a new one in 1997. The nearby Tungelsta station is the only one in the region to survive from the railway's original construction. Vendelsö IK (ice Hockey)
Vendelsö IK is a Swedish football club located in Haninge in Stockholm County. Background Vendelsö Idrottsklubb were formed on 16 March 1941. The club currently has around 2,500 members and runs football, floorball, and table tennis from the seniors to the "junior" level. The club also had an ice hockey section which merged with Haninge HF and Västerhaninge IF in May 2013 to become Haninge Anchors HC. Since their foundation, Vendelsö IK's football team has participated mainly in the middle and lower divisions of the Swedish football league system. The Swedish Ice Hockey Association ( sv, Svenska Ishockeyförbundet (SIF)) in Swedish, is an association of Swedish ice hockey clubs. It was established in Stockholm on 17 November 1922 by representatives from seven clubs. Before then, organized ice hockey in Sweden had been administered by the Swedish Football Association. In 1920, Sweden became a member of the International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF). In addition to ice hockey, SIF is also responsible for inline hockey. Ice hockey in Sweden has a history going back to at least 1912 and is one of the country's most popular sports. The sport was first organized in the country by the Swedish Football Association (SvFF), which was a member of the IIHF in 1912. 2014–15 Hockeyettan Season
The 2014–15 Hockeyettan season was the 16th season that Hockeyettan (up until this season referred to mainly as Division 1) has functioned as the third tier of ice hockey in Sweden, organized by the Swedish Ice Hockey Association (SIHA). The initial groups began on 21 September 2014 and ended on 10 December 2014. The following Allettan groups and continuation groups started on 27 December 2014 and finished on 15 February 2015. The promotion playoffs to the Kvalserien (HockeyAllsvenskan), HockeyAllsvenskan qualifier began on 19 February 2015 and ended on 6–7 March 2015.
