Handball At The 2024 Summer Olympics – Women's Tournament
The handball tournaments at the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris, France will be held from 25 July to 11 August 2024. Preliminary pool matches will occur at South Paris Arena 6, with the final phase staged at Pierre Mauroy Stadium in Lille. The format remains the same since 2000 for the men and 2008 for the women, as twelve teams in two groups battle each other in the round robin, followed by the knockout matches for the top eight starting with the quarterfinals and ending with the final and bronze match. Events Two sets of medals will be awarded in the following events: * Men's handball (12 teams) * Women's handball (12 teams) Qualification The National Olympic Committees might enter only one 14-player men's team and only one 14-player women's team. Handball at the Summer Olympics refers to two different sports. Field handball was introduced for men at the 1936 Summer Olympics in Berlin, but dropped after that. At the 1952 Olympics, field handball was a demonstration sport. (Indoor) handball was introduced for men at the 1972 Summer Olympics in Munich. Handball At The 2023 Pan American Games
Handball competitions at the 2023 Pan American Games are scheduled to be held from October 24 to November 4, 2023. The venue for the competition is the Gimnasio Polideportivo located in Viña del Mar. A total of eight men's and eight women's teams (each consisting up to 14 athletes) will compete in each tournament. This means a total of 224 athletes are scheduled to compete. The winner of each competition will qualify for the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris, France. Handball at the 2022 Asian Games was held at the Zhejiang Gongshang University Sports Centre and Zhejiang Normal University Xiaoshan Gymnasium, Hangzhou, China, from 24 September to 5 October 2023.
