Hampstead Cricket Club
Hampstead Cricket Club is a cricket club in London. The team was formed in 1865, and have played their home games at Lymington Road in West Hampstead since 1877. The men's 1st XI play in the Middlesex Premier League which they have won twice, most recently in 2015.The men's 2nd XI have also won twice, most recently in 2022 and the men's 3rd XI have won 4 times. Past players In 1886, future England captain Andrew Stoddart scored a then record 485 in one day for Hampstead against Stoics. A statue of Stoddart commemorating this event was unveiled by former England captain Andrew Strauss as part of the club's 150th anniversary celebrations in 2015. The Middlesex County Cricket League (MCCL) is the only adult Saturday league for recreational club cricket in the historic county of Middlesex, England. Shizuka Miyaji
Shizuka Miyaji (Japanese: 宮地静香, Hepburn: Miyaji Shizuka) is a Japanese female cricketer. She was also the part of the Japanese cricket team which secured the bronze medal at the 2010 Asian Games which was held in China defeating the China women's national cricket team in the 3rd place playoff. Cricket In Middlesex
Cricket is a bat-and-ball game played between two teams of eleven players on a field at the centre of which is a pitch with a wicket at each end, each comprising two bails balanced on three stumps. The batting side scores runs by striking the ball bowled at one of the wickets with the bat and then running between the wickets, while the bowling and fielding side tries to prevent this (by preventing the ball from leaving the field, and getting the ball to either wicket) and dismiss each batter (so they are "out"). Means of dismissal include being bowled, when the ball hits the stumps and dislodges the bails, and by the fielding side either catching the ball after it is hit by the bat, but before it hits the ground, or hitting a wicket with the ball before a batter can cross the crease in front of the wicket. Mark Edward Harvey (born 26 June 1974) is a former English cricketer. Harvey is a right-handed batsman who bowls right-arm medium pace. He was born at Burnley, Lancashire. In February 1993, Harvey made two appearances for England Under-19s against India Under-19s. He later made his first-class debut for Lancashire against Gloucestershire at Old Trafford in the 1994 County Championship. He made a further first-class appearance in that season against Nottinghamshire in at Trent Bridge. Paul Weekes
Paul Nicholas Weekes (born 8 July 1969) is an English former cricketer. He is a left-handed batsman and a right-arm offspin bowler. Born in Hackney, Weekes made his first-class debut for Middlesex in 1990. He is the only English cricketer to have scored more than 150 runs in both innings of a first-class game. He has twice made over 1,000 runs in 1996 and 2004. He helped Middlesex finish the 2005 National League as runners-up to Essex. He retired from first-class cricket following Middlesex's relegation at the end of the 2006 county season, having stated his desire to play regular first team cricket earlier in the season. Uxbridge Cricket Club is a cricket club based in Uxbridge, Middlesex. Uxbridge CC is a member of the Middlesex County Cricket League which is a designated ECB Premier League. History There are records of Cricket being played in the Uxbridge area as far back as 1735. The official founding date of Uxbridge Cricket Club is 1789. The first games were played on the Uxbridge Moor area of the town, later moving to Uxbridge Common. In 1858 the club moved again, to a field behind the Eastern end of Uxbridge High Street, and remained there until 1970 when the redevelopment of the town centre obliged the club to seek a new home. ECB National Club Cricket Championship
The ECB National Club Cricket Championship is a forty over limited overs knockout club cricket competition in England. The most successful clubs have been Scarborough, from North Yorkshire, with five titles and Old Hill, from Staffordshire, with four. The 2019 champions were Swardeston, after they beat Nantwich by 53 runs in the final; the competition was not played in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The competition was originally only open to "senior" cricket sides (sides playing in the senior county leagues) and in 1972 the National Village Cup competition was formed for village sides unable to enter this competition. Fred Spofforth
Frederick Robert Spofforth (9 September 1853 – 4 June 1926), also known as "The Demon Bowler", was arguably the Australian cricket team's finest pace bowler of the nineteenth century. He was the first bowler to take 50 Test wickets, and the first to take a Test hat-trick, in 1879. He played in Test matches for Australia between 1877 and 1887, and then settled in England where he played for Derbyshire. In 2009, he was inducted into the ICC Hall of Fame.
