Hamilton Tiger Cubs
The Hamilton Tiger Cubs were a Canadian junior ice hockey team in the Ontario Hockey Association from 1953 to 1960. The team was based in Hamilton, Ontario. History The Hamilton juniors which they were called initially in the early part of 1953. At the time Hamilton had the historic senior OHA team still called the "tigers" in the city but sadly the popularity of the team was fading due to mismanagement and the city of Hamilton being more attracted to younger hockey prospects vs senior players. The franchise was partnered with the Detroit Red wings from day one just as the previous season when the juniors were in Windsor. During this time when the local newspaper covered hockey, The paper specifically called the OHA/OHL the "cubs" and that was adopted by mid season vs the "juniors". Pit Martin
Hubert Jacques "Pit" Martin (December 9, 1943 – November 30, 2008) was a Canadian professional ice hockey centre who served as captain for the Chicago Black Hawks of the National Hockey League (NHL) from 1975 to 1977. He was an NHL All-Star and Bill Masterton Memorial Trophy winner. Martin played seventeen seasons in the NHL for the Detroit Red Wings, Boston Bruins, Chicago Black Hawks and Vancouver Canucks. Playing career Nicknamed Pit after a comic strip character in a French newspaper, Martin was scouted by former NHL goaltender Wilf Cude and joined the Red Wings organization. Lowell MacDonald
Lowell Wilson MacDonald (born August 30, 1941) is a Canadian former professional National Hockey League winger who played during the 1960s and 1970s. Career MacDonald broke into the NHL with the Detroit Red Wings after being promoted from the AHL's Pittsburgh Hornets. He spent two years with the Los Angeles Kings, but was most productive with the Pittsburgh Penguins where he was awarded the Bill Masterton Memorial Trophy in 1973. MacDonald retired after 506 games, recording 180 goals, 210 assists, 390 points, and only 92 penalty minutes. Larry Jeffrey
Lawrence Joseph Jeffrey (October 12, 1940 – July 18, 2022) was a Canadian professional ice hockey player, who played forward. He played for the Detroit Red Wings, Toronto Maple Leafs, and New York Rangers of the National Hockey League from 1961 to 1969. Jeffrey was a member of the 1967 Stanley Cup-winning Maple Leafs. Career Jeffrey was from Goderich, Ontario. He began playing junior ice hockey in 1956, spending five years with the Hamilton Tiger Cubs and Hamilton Red Wings of the Ontario Hockey Association. Larry Hillman
Lawrence Morley Hillman (February 5, 1937 – May 31, 2022) was a Canadian professional ice hockey defenceman and coach. One of the most travelled players in hockey history, he played for 15 different teams in his 22 professional seasons. He played in the National Hockey League (NHL) between 1955 and 1973, and then in the World Hockey Association (WHA) from 1973 to 1976. After retiring he spent parts of three seasons as a coach in the WHA. Hillman had his name engraved on the Stanley Cup six times during his playing career. John Gunnard "Jack, Jake" Hendrickson (December 5, 1936 - June 27, 2016) was a Canadian ice hockey player who played 5 games in the National Hockey League with the Detroit Red Wings between 1957 and 1962. Cumming Scott Burton (May 12, 1936 — August 24, 2015) was a Canadian professional ice hockey Winger (ice hockey), right winger who played three seasons in the National Hockey League for the Detroit Red Wings between 1956 and 1959. John Donald Blackburn (May 14, 1938 – February 4, 2023) was a Canadian professional ice hockey left winger who played in the National Hockey League (NHL) with the Boston Bruins, Philadelphia Flyers, New York Rangers, New York Islanders and Minnesota North Stars. David Augustus "Hoss" Amadio (April 23, 1939 – April 10, 1981) was a Canadian professional ice hockey player who played 125 games in the National Hockey League with the Los Angeles Kings and Detroit Red Wings between 1958 and 1969.
