Lenny Hambro
Leonard William Hambro, known as Lenny Hambro (October 16, 1923 – September 26, 1995), was a journeyman jazz musician who played woodwinds, primarily alto saxophone, with a host of bands, orchestras, and jazz notables from the early 1940s through the mid-1960s, and continued as a session musician, music producer, booking agent, and entertainment coordinator through the mid-1990s. Early in his professional career, Hambro spelled his name "Lennie" but changed it to the former spelling in 1954, although he was occasionally referred to as "Lennie" in the press as late as 1957. Hambro broke into the profession with Gene Krupa in 1942. However, he is best known for his time as manager and assistant band leader with the New Glenn Miller Orchestra under the direction of Ray McKinley. Hambros Bank was a British bank based in London. The Hambros bank was a specialist in Anglo-Scandinavian business with expertise in trade finance and investment banking, and was the sole banker to the Scandinavian kingdoms for many years. Charles Jocelyn Hambro
Air Commodore Sir Charles Jocelyn Hambro, (3 October 189728 August 1963) was a British merchant banker and intelligence officer. Life Hambro was born into a banking family of Danish Jewish origin which had settled in Dorset and the City of London in the early 19th century. He was the son of Sir Eric Hambro, a partner in C. J. Hambro & Son (later to become Hambros Bank) and a Conservative Member of Parliament for Wimbledon between 1900 and 1907. Between 1910 and 1915, he was educated at Eton College, joining the cricket team in 1914 and becoming the Captain in 1915. After leaving Eton he immediately went to the Royal Military College, Sandhurst, being made an ensign in the Coldstream Guards on 22 December 1915. He was immediately posted to the Western Front, serving for two years as an officer until demobilisation. Johan Randulf Bull Hambro (24 October 1915 – 27 February 1993) was a Norway, Norwegian journalist, translator and biographer. He was the fourth son of Norwegian politician C. J. Hambro, whose biography he wrote in 1984. He lived in the United States from 1939 to 1982, where he studied and worked as a foreign-affairs journalist, press attaché and consulate-general. He was secretary general of the Norse Federation for 27 years, from 1955 to 1982. He was decorated as a Knight, First Class of the Order of St. Olav in 1975. Baron Carl Joachim Hambro (23 November 1807 – 27 November 1877) was a Danish banker. He was the founder of Hambros Bank, one of the United Kingdom's largest investment banks. Early life Carl Joachim Hambro was born in 1807 in Copenhagen, Denmark. He was the son of Marianne von Halle and Joseph Hambro (1780–1848). The family lineage can be traced to Rendsburg, Schleswig-Holstein, in the 1720s.
