Halvor Nordhaug
Halvor Nordhaug (born 26 February 1953) is a Norwegian Bishop in the Lutheran Church of Norway. He was appointed bishop of the Diocese of Bjørgvin in 2008 and has served in that capacity since that time. Nordhaug is the son of bishop Ole Nordhaug and psalmist Liv Nordhaug. Halvor Nordhaug is married and has three children. Nordhaug received his Cand.theol. degree in 1978 from the MF Norwegian School of Theology. He was ordained in 1979 at the Fredrikstad Cathedral. Since that time he has served as a pastor at Heistadmoen in 1980. From 1981 until 1986, he was pastor for Norwegian students abroad, employed by the Norwegian Seamen's Church. He was a consultant for the Ecumenical Council of the Church from 1986–1991. Then from 1991 to 1995, he was a pastor in the parish of Ås. Diocese Of Bjørgvin
The Diocese of Bjørgvin ( no, Bjørgvin bispedømme) is one of the 11 dioceses that make up the Church of Norway. It includes all of the churches located in the county of Vestland in Western Norway. The cathedral city is Bergen, Norway's second largest city. Bergen Cathedral, formerly the Church of Saint Olaf, serves as the seat of the presiding Bishop. The bishop since 2008 has been Halvor Nordhaug. History Prior to 1536, the state religion of Norway was Roman Catholicism, but the government of the Kingdom of Denmark-Norway joined in with the Protestant Reformation and in 1536 it declared itself to be Lutheran, and the Church of Norway was formed. Heistadmoen
Heistadmoen is a Norwegian military encampment in Kongsberg, in Viken county, Norway. Heistadmoen currently provides able quarters for the Telemark and Buskerud Home Guard District (''Telemark og Buskerud Heimevernsdistrikt''). The camp is large and modern, most of the buildings have been recently refurbished. The camp is also used by other departments for training and shooting. History There were scattered activity on site dating from 1909 when the Telemark Infantry Regiment was based there. The earliest buildings were relocated from the Gråtenmoen area in Skien. The principal function was to provide better protection for the Kongsberg Weapons Factory. During World War II, Telemark Infantry Regiment capitulated to the invading German Army without a fight on 13 April 1940 due to the threat of German bombing. Fredrikstad Cathedral
Fredrikstad Cathedral ( no, Fredrikstad Domkirke) is a cathedral located in the west of the city of Fredrikstad in Viken county, Norway. It is the episcopal seat of the Diocese of Borg of the Church of Norway. The church was elevated to cathedral status in 1969 with the creation of the new Diocese of Borg.
