Halvor Heyerdahl Rasch
Halvor Heyerdahl Rasch (8 January 1805 – 26 August 1883) was a Norwegian zoologist and educator. He was born at Eidsberg in Østfold, Norway. Rasch studied botany and zoology at the University of Christiania (now University of Oslo). He was a professor of zoology and natural science at the University of Oslo from 1852 to 1874, having previously been a lector since 1847. An avid hunter and sportsman, he published the book ''Jagten i Norge'' (1845) as well as works about livestock, oyster cultivation and beekeeping. He was among the founders of the ''Centralforeningen for Udbredelse af Legemsøvelser og Vaabenbrug'', a precursor to the Norwegian Confederation of Sports, in 1861. Eidsberg
Eidsberg was a municipality in Østfold county, Norway. The administrative centre of the municipality was the town of Mysen. In 2020, Eidsberg was absorbed into the Indre Østfold municipality. Eidsberg was established as a municipality on 1 January 1838 (see formannskapsdistrikt). The town of Mysen was separated from Eidsberg to form a municipality of its own on 1 July 1920, but it was merged back into the municipality of Eidsberg on 1 January 1961. Beekeeping
Beekeeping (or apiculture) is the maintenance of bee colonies, commonly in man-made beehives. Honey bees in the genus '' Apis'' are the most-commonly-kept species but other honey-producing bees such as ''Melipona'' stingless bees are also kept. Beekeepers (or apiarists) keep bees to collect honey and other products of the hive: beeswax, propolis, bee pollen, and royal jelly. Pollination of crops, raising queens, and production of package bees for sale are other sources of beekeeping income. Bee hives are kept in an apiary or "bee yard". The keeping of bees by humans, primarily for honey production, began around 10,000 years ago. Georgia is known as the "cradle of beekeeping" and the oldest honey ever found comes from that country. The 5,500-year-old honey was unearthed from the grave of a noblewoman during archaeological excavations in 2003 near the town Borjomi.
