Halsted is an 'L' station on the CTA Green Line's Englewood branch, located in the Englewood neighborhood. It is situated at 6321 South Halsted Street. It opened on December 24, 1906. Halsted Street is a major north-south street in the U.S. city of Chicago, Illinois. Location In Chicago's grid system, Halsted Street marks 800 West, west of State Street, from Grace Street (3800 N) in Lakeview south to the city limits at the Little Calumet River (13000 S) in West Pullman, a length of 168 north-south Chicago blocks. The Green Line is a rapid transit line on the Chicago Transit Authority's "L" system. It is a completely elevated route in the "L" system; all other routes may have various combinations of elevated, subway, street level (at grade), or freeway median sections. Englewood is a neighborhood and community area located on the South Side of Chicago, Illinois, United States. It is also the 68th of the 77 community areas in the city. At its peak population in 1960, over 97,000 people lived in its approximately , but the neighborhood's population has since dropped dramatically.
