Hallett Wind Farm
The Hallett Wind Farm is the collective name for four wind farms near the town of Hallett, South Australia. They are owned and operated by AGL Energy. * Brown Hill (Hallett 1): 95MW, completed June 2008 * Hallett Hill (Hallett 2): 71MW, completed September 2009 * North Brown Hill (Hallett 4): 132MW, completed December 2010 * Bluff Range (Hallett 5): 53MW, completed December 2011 The Mount Bryan wind farm which would have been Hallett 3 was never built. It received planning approval in 2009 but the project was cancelled and the permit was revoked in 2012 following appeals in the Environment, Resources and Development Court. Brown Hill Brown Hill Wind Farm, also known as Hallett 1, consists of 45 Suzlon S88 turbines each of a rated 2.1 megawatt (MW) for a total of around 95 MW. Hallett, South Australia
Hallett is a small town in Mid North region of South Australia, situated on the Barrier Highway and former Peterborough railway line north of Burra and south-east of Jamestown, Hallett lies close to Goyder's Line, plotted in the nineteenth century by George Goyder, separating the land suitable for cropping from the land suitable for grazing. At the 2011 census, Hallett shared a population of 235 with adjoining localities. The town was named for pioneering pastoralist and politician John Hallett, and laid out on his property "Willogoleechee". The first were offered for sale on 7 July 1870. Hallett Cove was also named for him. Once a railhead for the local farming community, the town today features a General Store with fuel supply and the Wildongoleechie Hotel, which dates from 1868. Hallett Power Station
Hallett Power Station is located in Canowie, in the Mid North of South Australia, located about north of Adelaide. It was commissioned in 2001 and opened in 2002. It was built by AGL Energy, but was sold in 2007, and is currently operated by EnergyAustralia. It has capacity of approximately , and connects to the National Electricity Grid. It contains 12 gas turbine generators. The powerstation is fuelled by natural gas drawn from the Moomba Adelaide Pipeline System, and can also operate from a back-up supply of diesel in the event of a failure of the gas supply. It was built using second-hand gas turbines. Capacity Factor
The net capacity factor is the unitless ratio of actual electrical energy output over a given period of time to the theoretical maximum electrical energy output over that period. The theoretical maximum energy output of a given installation is defined as that due to its continuous operation at full nameplate capacity over the relevant period. Mount Bryan, South Australia
Mount Bryan is a town in north-east South Australia. The town is situated on the Barrier Highway and former Peterborough railway line, north of Burra, in the Regional Council of Goyder. At the 2016 census, Mount Bryan had a population of 110. The town was named after a nearby peak, Mount Bryan, which was seen in December 1839 by Governor George Gawler and who named it in honour of Henry Bryan, a young man who became lost and perished of thirst during Gawler's expedition. Among those accompanying Gawler were Charles Sturt and Henry Inman. Once the heart of a thriving farming community, including some of Australia's best known Merino sheep studs, the town today is largely represented by the Mount Bryan Hotel—an old pub.
