Hallenstadion
The Hallenstadion (german: , ''Zürich Indoor Stadium'') is a multi-purpose facility located in the quarter of Oerlikon in northern Zürich. It is home to the ZSC Lions of the National League (NL) and has a capacity of 11,200 spectators. Designed by Bruno Giacometti, it opened on November 4, 1939, and was renovated in 2004–05. The Lions are set to move out of the Hallenstadion at the end of the 2021/22 season to move in a new 12,000-seat arena a few kilometers away in the Altstetten area. Construction for the new Swiss Life Arena officially began on 6 March 2019, with completion scheduled for the summer of 2022. Entertainment Hallenstadion has been a top venue for entertainment in Switzerland as many international artists have performed at the venue, spanning a wide range of genres. Private Dancer Tour
The Private Dancer Tour is the fifth concert tour by singer Tina Turner. In conjunction with her fifth studio album ''Private Dancer'' (1984), the tour helped to establish Turner as a major solo artist and live performer and is often considered one of the best comebacks in music history. The 180-date tour encompassed Europe, North America, Australia and Asia. Turner also played a show in Budapest, the only show of the tour behind the Iron Curtain. The concerts received additional accolades, receiving an "Most Creative Tour Package Award" and "Comeback Tour Of The Year Award" from Pollstar Awards. Uprising Tour
The Uprising Tour was a concert tour organised to support the album ''Uprising'' by Bob Marley and the Wailers. It was Marley's last tour and the biggest music tour of Europe in that year. The tour started at the Hallenstadion in Zürich, Switzerland, where Marley performed for the first time, on 30 May 1980, and ended at the Stanley Theater in Pittsburgh, on 23 September 1980, which was Marley's last concert. Two days prior to the Pittsburgh show, after playing two shows at the Madison Square Garden, Marley collapsed in Central Park while jogging, and was told to immediately cancel the U.S. leg of the tour, but he instead flew to Pittsburgh to perform one final performance. He was rumoured to go out on stage to say "Hi" to fans with Stevie Wonder during his performance of Master Blaster but this is not true. The Tusk Tour was a world concert tour by the rock group, Fleetwood Mac. The tour began on October 26, 1979, in Pocatello, Idaho and ended on September 1, 1980, in Hollywood, California. The Live album contained many of the live recordings of songs from The Tusk Tour. History of the tour In 1979, Fleetwood Mac embarked on their 112 show-long world tour promoting their new album, ''Tusk''. Beginning in Pocatello, Idaho on October 26, 1979, and ending September 1, 1980 at the Hollywood Bowl, the roller-coaster tour was near-detrimental to the survival of the band. The Rolling Stones' Tour of Europe '76 was a concert tour of Europe that took place in Spring 1976. History Tickets were in high demand; on 1 April the promoters announced that they had received more than one million applications in the mail for tickets for three shows at London's Earls Court Exhibition Centre; subsequently three more dates were added there. The routing also saw two dates in Yugoslavia – the Stones' second visit to a Communist country after 1967. The tour began a few days after the 23 April release of the group's album '' Black and Blue'', and is documented by the 1977 concert release ''Love You Live''. Much of the material on that album is from the shows at Les Abattoirs in Paris from 4 to 7 June. The News of the World Tour was the fifth headlining concert tour by the British rock band Queen, supporting their successful 1977 album ''News of the World''. The tour spanned from 11 November 1977 to 13 May 1978 over three tour legs: North America, Europe, and The United Kingdom. Rehearsals for the tour took place at Shepperton Studios in October 1977. Overview Hot off the heels of the A Day at the Races Tour, the band retreated to Wessex Studios to record their sixth studio album, News of the World. A video shoot for the first single off the album, "We Are the Champions," was shot on 6 October 1977 at New London Theatre. Many people from the Queen Fan Club were privately invited to the event to fill up the theatre. The Rolling Stones European Tour 1967
The Rolling Stones' 1967 European Tour was a concert tour by the band to promote their new album ''Between the Buttons'' and new singles "Let's Spend the Night Together" and "Ruby Tuesday". History The tour commenced on 25 March and concluded on 17 April 1967. It was the last Rolling Stones concert tour to include Brian Jones, who initially formed and named the band. This tour would also be one of the first times a rock band from Western Europe performed in Eastern Europe, when on 13 April, they played two shows at the Palace of Culture and Science in Warsaw, Poland. The people who did attend were told to behave accordingly during the concert or they would be removed from the venue, however, a riot started. The Jazz Tour was the sixth headlining concert tour by the British rock band Queen, supporting the album ''Jazz''. The tour was memorable for the spectacle created by the band. As James Henke of ''Rolling Stone'' said about the band's Halloween 1978 concert in New Orleans: "...when they were launching a U.S. tour in support of their ''Jazz'', album, Queen threw a bash in New Orleans that featured snake charmers, strippers, crossdressers and a naked fat lady who smoked cigarettes in her crotch." The Game Tour
The Game Tour was the eighth headlining concert tour by the British rock band Queen to support their successful 1980 album '' The Game''. This tour featured the first performances in South America by the group. This tour marked the last time Queen played without a fifth player, as all tours from 1982 onwards would feature an extra man playing on keyboard. Background This tour marked the introduction of a new lighting rig for Queen; the "Fly Swatters", also referred to as the "Bic Razors". The Hot Space Tour was the ninth headlining concert tour by the British rock band Queen in support of their 1982 album ''Hot Space''. The tour started on the 9th of April in Gothenburg, Sweden and ended, after sixty-nine concerts, in Tokorozawa, Japan on the 3rd of November. Background The tour saw many changes to Queen's show. The tour was the first in which the band used a keyboardist, playing in the background. For the European leg of the tour, they used Morgan Fisher. Fisher is best known for having been a member of Mott the Hoople in the 1970s. Queen were the opening act for Mott the Hoople's US Tour of 1974, so the band already had close connections with Fisher prior to the tour. Another connection which Fisher had with the band was through a short-lived progressive rock band called Morgan, which he formed with Tim Staffell, who was the bass guitarist and lead vocalist for the pre-Queen band Smile. Magic Tour (Queen)
The Magic Tour was a 1986 European concert tour by the British rock band Queen, supporting the album '' A Kind of Magic''. The tour featured 26 shows across Western Europe and the UK, as well as one show in Sweden and one in Hungary. The two shows at Wembley Stadium on 11–12 July sold out and saw Queen play to 150,000 fans; the second concert was professionally filmed and recorded and has been released several times. The final show of the tour, and the last live show Freddie Mercury ever performed with Queen, was at Knebworth on 9 August to a crowd of 120,000. ZSC Lions
The Zürcher Schlittschuh Club Lions (ZSC Lions) are a professional ice hockey team located in Zürich, Switzerland, playing in the National League (NL). Their home arena is the 12,000-seat Swiss Life Arena. The team was founded in 1930 and played at the Dolder-Kunsteisbahn from its establishment until 1950. History ZSC Lions were formed in 1997 as a result of the merger of the two local teams: the highly popular Zürcher Schlittschuh Club (German for "Zürich Skating Club"), who were struggling financially in National League A, and the ice hockey section of Grasshopper Club Zürich of the National League B, backed by entrepreneur and billionaire Walter Frey. The European Express Tour was the European leg of Elton John's 1984 Breaking Hearts Tour. Background The European Express Tour, which was a continuation of the Too Low for Zero Tour of Oceania took place across three months during the summer of 1984. The tour included several countries that Elton and his band had not previously performed in. This included Poland, Czechoslovakia, Hungary Yugoslavia, Italy, Austria and Spain. The tour came to an end at London's Wembley Stadium on 30 June 1984. This concert was recorded for broadcast on the U.S. Showtime cable network and Britain's BBC Radio 1.
