Public Transport Victoria
Public Transport Victoria (PTV) is the brand name for public transport in the Australian state of Victoria, Australia, Victoria. It was the trading name of the Go Public Transport Development Authority (PTDA), a now-defunct statutory authority in Victoria, responsible for providing, coordinating, and promoting public transport. The PTV began operating on 2 April 2012, taking over many of the responsibilities previously exercised by the Director of Public Transport and the Department of Transport (Victoria, 2008–13), Department of Transport. Level Crossing Removal Project
The Level Crossing Removal Project (LXRP) is a program of the Government of Victoria, Australia, to remove 110 level crossings and rebuild 51 railway stations in Melbourne. After pledging the removal of 50 level crossings at the 2014 Victorian state election, the Andrews government committed $2.4 billion in the 2015–2016 budget to remove the first 20 crossings by 2018. The next 30 crossings were funded through the privatisation of the Port of Melbourne. Prior to the 2018 state election, the government committed to remove a further 25 level crossings, using a new prioritisation framework. In 2021, the government announced a further ten level crossing removals and four level crossing closures would occur by 2025, bringing the total planned level crossing removals to 85 by 2025. Sunbury Railway Line
The Sunbury railway line is a suburban electric railway in Melbourne, Australia. It has 15 stations, in Myki ticketing Zones 1 and 2. It is the electrified section of the Bendigo railway within metropolitan Melbourne. Prior to the line extension to Sunbury, the line was known as the Sydenham railway line, and prior to the extension of electrification to Sydenham, the line was known as the St Albans railway line. General Motors Railway Station
General Motors is a disused railway station on the Orbost line in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia. It was previously served by Pakenham line commuter rail services, as part of the suburban rail system. It is located between Dandenong and Hallam stations, in the suburb of Dandenong South. History General Motors station was originally opened as a "special platform" on 1 October 1956 to service the General Motors Holden car factory to the north. An alternate date for the opening is 18 November 1956. Work on the adjacent General Motors Holden factory commenced with the purchase of of land in 1951, construction commencing in 1955, and completed in 1956. Narre Warren Railway Station
Narre Warren railway station is located on the Pakenham line in Victoria, Australia. It serves the south-eastern Melbourne suburb of Narre Warren, and opened on 10 March 1882. History Narre Warren station opened on 10 March 1882 as a single platform, just over four years after the railway line from Dandenong was extended to Pakenham. Like the suburb itself, the station was named after an Indigenous word believed to mean 'small hills'. A siding, in rail terminology, is a low-speed track section distinct from a running line or through route such as a main line, branch line, or spur. It may connect to through track or to other sidings at either end. Sidings often have lighter rails, meant for lower speed or less heavy traffic, and few, if any, signals. Sidings connected at both ends to a running line are commonly known as loops; those not so connected may be referred to as single-ended or dead-end sidings, or (if short) stubs. Princes Highway is a major road in Australia, extending from Sydney via Melbourne to Adelaide through the states of New South Wales, Victoria (Australia), Victoria and South Australia.
