Halifax Bruising Banditas
Halifax Bruising Banditas (HBB) are a flat track roller derby league based in Halifax, West Yorkshire, England. Established in 2011, they are the first roller derby league in the Calderdale and Kirklees area. They play to the ruleset of the Women's Flat Track Derby Association (WFTDA), and have been members of the United Kingdom Roller Derby Association (UKRDA) since 2013. League History The Halifax Bruising Banditas was founded in June 2011, led by Lauren Artington who had been skating with another league for two-and-a-half years. She brought together others who had begun to skate with Hot Wheel Roller Derby and Leeds Roller Dolls and aimed to spread the sport to the wider West Yorkshire area. The league was originally called Bruising Banditas, but was changed to Halifax Bruising Banditas in 2012 to draw a link to its home town. Calderdale
Calderdale is a metropolitan borough of West Yorkshire, England, whose population in 2020 was 211,439. It takes its name from the River Calder, and dale, a word for valley. Granite City Roller Derby (GCRD) is a roller derby league based in Aberdeen, Scotland. Founded in 2008, the league currently have two teams which compete with teams from other leagues. League Structure The league consists of two travel teams: * Northern Fights (A, established 2008) * The Fight Hawks (B, established June 2015) League history Originating as the Aberdeen Aces, GCRD were the second roller derby league established in Scotland. The league struggled in the early days to find a training hall to practice in and resorted to skating in a local car park when weather allowed. Huddersfield
Huddersfield is a market town in the Kirklees district in West Yorkshire, England. It is the administrative centre and largest settlement in the Kirklees district. The town is in the foothills of the Pennines. The River Holme's confluence into the similar-sized Colne to the south of the town centre which then flows into the Calder in the north eastern outskirts of the town. The Women's Flat Track Derby Association (WFTDA) is the international governing body for the sport of women's flat track roller derby, and association of leagues around the world. The organization was founded in April 2004 as the United Leagues Coalition (ULC), but was renamed in November 2005. It is registered in Raleigh, North Carolina as a 501(c)(6) business league organization, a type of nonprofit organization.
