Half Hour Of Power
''Half Hour of Power'' is the debut extended play by Canadian rock band Sum 41. It was released on June 27, 2000 on Big Rig Records, a subsidiary of Island Records (United States), and Aquarius Records (Canada). The cover features the band's then-drummer Steve Jocz aiming a Nerf gun up in the air and standing in front of an explosion in the background. Though officially an EP, ''Half Hour of Power'' may also be considered the band's debut studio album. Most of the songs featured on the EP were included as bonus tracks on Sum 41's actual debut studio album '' All Killer No Filler'', which featured a re-recorded version of ''Half Hour of Powers sixth track "Summer". This is the second of three times that this song was featured on a Sum 41 album. It first appeared on their 1998 demo tape. Sum 41
Sum 41 is a Canadian rock band from Ajax, Ontario. Originally called Kaspir, the band was formed in 1996 and currently consists of Deryck Whibley (lead vocals, guitars, keyboards), Dave Baksh (lead guitar, backing vocals), Jason "Cone" McCaslin (bass, backing vocals), Tom Thacker (guitars, keyboards, backing vocals), and Frank Zummo (drums, percussion, occasional backing vocals). In 1999, Sum 41 signed an international record deal with Island Records and released its first EP, '' Half Hour of Power'', in 2000. CMJ Holdings Corp. is a music events and online media company, originally founded in 1978, which ran a website, hosted an annual festival in New York City, and published two magazines, ''CMJ New Music Monthly'' and ''CMJ New Music Report''. Dave Baksh
Dave Baksh (born 26 July 1980) also known by his stage name Dave Brownsound, is a Canadian musician, singer and songwriter best known as one of the guitarists of rock band Sum 41. Baksh quit Sum 41 in 2006 (not counting a guest appearance on stage in 2008) to pursue his own career in his heavy metal/reggae project Brown Brigade. He rejoined Sum 41 in 2015 and has released two subsequent studio albums with the band. He also plays guitar for Organ Thieves, with two of his fellow Brown Brigade members and the Canadian deathpunk four-piece Black Cat Attack. In 2019, Baksh co-founded the merchandise company Loud & Immortal. Early life Baksh is a native of Ajax, Ontario, along with fellow Sum 41 bandmates Jason McCaslin and Steve Jocz. Guitar
The guitar is a fretted musical instrument that typically has six strings. It's What We're All About
"What We're All About" (titled "It's What We're All About" on the single cover) is a song by Canadian rock band Sum 41. It was released in April 2002 as a single for the soundtrack to the film '' Spider-Man''. Background This is a reworked version of "Dave's Possessed Hair/ What We're all About" from the band's first EP, ''Half Hour of Power''. Part of the first verse is rapped in an acappella version in the beginning of the "Fat Lip" music video. Similar to "Fat Lip", vocal duties in "What We're All About" are split evenly between rhythm guitarist Deryck Whibley, drummer Stevo Jocz, and lead guitarist Dave Brownsound. The song segues into the 55-second instrumental track, "Ride the Chariot to the Devil", on the EP version of the song. The new wave of British heavy metal (commonly abbreviated as NWOBHM) was a nationwide musical movement that started in England in the mid-1970s and achieved international attention by the early 1980s. Journalist Geoff Barton coined the term in a May 1979 issue of the British music newspaper ''Sounds (magazine), Sounds'' to describe the emergence of new heavy metal music, heavy metal bands in the mid to late 1970s, during the period of punk rock's decline and the dominance of new wave music. Hardcore Punk
Hardcore punk (also known as simply hardcore) is a punk rock music genre and subculture that originated in the late 1970s. It is generally faster, harder, and more aggressive than other forms of punk rock. Its roots can be traced to earlier punk scenes in San Francisco and Southern California which arose as a reaction against the still predominant hippie cultural climate of the time. NOFX
NOFX () is an American punk rock band formed in Los Angeles, California in 1983. Vocalist/bassist Fat Mike, guitarist Eric Melvin and drummer Erik Sandin are original founding and longest-serving members of the band, who have appeared on every release of the band, although Sandin departed briefly in 1985, only to rejoin the following year. El Hefe joined the band in 1991 to play lead guitar and trumpet, rounding out the current line-up.
