Halcones De Ciudad Obregón
The Halcones de Ciudad Obregón (English: ''Ciudad Obregón Falcons'') are a Mexican professional basketball team based in Ciudad Obregón, Sonora. The Halcones are members of the Circuito de Baloncesto de la Costa del Pacífico (CIBACOPA) and play their games in the Gimnasio Municipal Manuel Lira García. History The Trigueros de Ciudad Obregón were founding members of CIBACOPA in 2001, and won three championships until the issue of poor attendance forced the club to abandon the league in 2013. The Halcones were founded in 2016 by a group of local businessmen looking to bring professional basketball back to the city to develop and promote the sport. The team joined the Circuito de Baloncesto de la Costa del Pacífico (CIBACOPA) as an expansion team for the 2016 season, where they had a seventh-place regular-season finish before getting swept 4–0 by the eventual champions Nauticos de Mazatlán in the first round of the playoffs. Circuito De Baloncesto De La Costa Del Pacífico
The Basketball Circuit of the Pacific Coast ( or ''CIBACOPA'') is a basketball league based in Northwestern Mexico. As of 2018, it involves 10 clubs, primarily from northwest Mexico. The matches take place from March to June. History A league with the same name existed in the 1980s, and the second incarnation was founded in 2001. The charter members were Caballeros de Culiacán, Delfines de Mazatlán, Frayles de Guasave, Lobos Marinos de La Paz, Paisas de Los Cabos, and Pioneros de Los Mochis. Caballeros de Culiacán won the inaugural league title by defeating Delfines de Mazatlán four games to none in the finals. The 2019 season saw a total attendance of more than 220,000. The league celebrated its 20th season in 2020. A new franchise, Gallos de Aguascalientes, was set to join but were expelled before the season began. ''La Jornada'' (''The Working Day'') is one of Mexico City's leading daily newspapers. It was established in 1984 by Carlos Payán Velver. The current editor ''(directora general)'' is Carmen Lira Saade. ''La Jornada'' has presence in eight states of the Mexican Republic with local editions in Aguascalientes, Guerrero, Jalisco, Michoacán, Morelos, San Luis Potosí, Puebla and Veracruz ''(La Jornada de Oriente).'' As of 2006 it had approximately 287,000 readers in Mexico City, and, according to them, their website has approximately 180,000 daily page views.
