Hafiz Abubakar
Hafiz Abubakar (born 25 November 1954) is a Nigerian politician, academic and a professor of nutrition science at Bayero University, Kano and he was the deputy governor of Kano State between 2015 and 2018. Hafiz was sworn-in as the deputy governor of Kano State along with Abdullahi Umar Ganduje as governor on 29 May 2015. Hafiz resigned on 5 August 2018 citing internal differences and humiliation by the governor. He thereafter joined the People's Democratic Party (Nigeria), Peoples Democratic Party and then defected to the People's Redemption Party upon his inability to secure the governorship ticket of the People's Democratic Party (Nigeria), Peoples Democratic Party. finally he returned to the All Progressive Congress on 20 December 2018. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje OFR (born 25 December 1949) is a Nigerian politician who is currently serving as the Governor of Kano State. He took over office in 2015. He previously served as Rabiu Kwankwaso's deputy governor twice, between 1999 to 2003 and 2011 to 2015. Background Ganduje was born in 1949 to a Fulani family in the village of Ganduje, Dawakin Tofa Local Government Area of Kano State. He began his early education in a Qur'anic and Islamiyya school at his village, where he was trained in Islamic knowledge. Later, he moved to the headquarters of his local government where he attended Dawakin Tofa Primary School from 1956 to 1963. Ganduje attended the prestigious Government College, Birnin Kudu from 1964 to 1968. Ganduje attended Advanced Teachers' College, Kano between 1969 and 1972. The People's Redemption Party is a social democratic political party in Nigeria.
