''Hafez'' is a Persian-language opera by Iranian composer Behzad Abdi to a libretto by Behrouz Gharibpour Behrouz Gharibpour ( fa, بهروز غریب‌پور) (born 1950 in Sanandaj) is an Iranian theatre director and pioneer of traditional Persian puppet theatre. He studied theatre at Tehran University and at ''Dramatic Arts Academy'' in Rome .... It is the second puppet opera by Abdi after the earlier '' Rumi'' (2009). Behzad Abdi
Behzad Abdi (born 1973, Tehran, Iran) is an Iranian composer of opera, film, and television music. Abdi studied setar and Iranian traditional music. His opera "Rumi" from 2009, based on the life of Rumi, with libretto by Behrouz Gharibourm, and with Mohammad Motamadi, has been released on a UK label, Naxos. Abdi is currently based in Kyiv, Ukraine. Libretto
A libretto (Italian for "booklet") is the text used in, or intended for, an extended musical work such as an opera, operetta, masque, oratorio, cantata or Musical theatre, musical. The term ''libretto'' is also sometimes used to refer to the text of major liturgical works, such as the Mass (liturgy), Mass, requiem and sacred cantata, or the story line of a ballet. ''Libretto'' (; plural ''libretti'' ), from Italian, is the diminutive of the word ''wiktionary:libro#Italian, libro'' ("book"). Behrouz Gharibpour
Behrouz Gharibpour ( fa, بهروز غریب‌پور) (born 1950 in Sanandaj) is an Iranian theatre director and pioneer of traditional Persian puppet theatre. He studied theatre at Tehran University and at ''Dramatic Arts Academy'' in Rome (Silvio D'Amico). He founded Tehran and Esfahan puppet theatre centres and changed Tehran's slaughterhouse into the greatest Iran's Cultural Centre. He has experienced in writing and directorship in fields such as theatre, puppet theatre, cinema, documentary movies, and T.V. Gharibpour is known for his solid research works on the Iranian puppetry as was commonly practiced during Qajar era. He was the president of the Union Internationale de la Marionnette (International Puppetry Association). Persian (), also known by its endonym Farsi (, ', ), is a Western Iranian language belonging to the Iranian branch of the Indo-Iranian subdivision of the Indo-European languages.
