John Hacket
John Hacket (Born Halket) (1 September 1592 – 28 October 1670) was an English churchman, Bishop of Lichfield and Coventry from 1661 until his death. Life He was born in London and educated at Westminster School, Westminster and Trinity College, Cambridge. On taking his degree he was elected a fellow of his college, and soon afterwards wrote the comedy, ''Loiola'' (London, 1648), which was twice performed before King James I of England, James I. He was ordained in 1618, and through the influence of John Williams (archbishop of York), John Williams became rector in 1621 of Stoke Hammond, Buckinghamshire, and Kirkby Underwood, Lincolnshire. In 1623 he was chaplain to James, and in 1624 Williams gave him the livings of St Andrew's, Holborn, and Cheam, Cheam, Surrey. He was Archdeacon of Bedford from 1631 to 1661. Cuthbert Hacket
Sir Cuthbert Hacket (died November 1631) was an English merchant who was Lord Mayor of London in 1626. Hacket was a city of London merchant and a member of the Worshipful Company of Dyers. On 26 September 1616 he was elected an alderman of the City of London for Portsoken ward. He was Sheriff of London for the year 1616 to 1617. He translated to the Worshipful Company of Drapers on 24 January 1623. He became alderman for Bridge ward in 1624. George Hacket
George Halket or Hacket (died 1756), was a Scottish poet and songwriter. Halket is said by Peter Buchan ("Gleanings of Scotch, English, and Irish Old Ballads") to have been a native of Aberdeenshire. In 1714 he was appointed schoolmaster, precentor, and session-clerk in the parish of Rathen, Aberdeenshire. One apartment served for dwelling and schoolhouse, and when, in 1718, Halket married Janet Adamson, the heritors being severely economical caused his box-bed to be reversed, so that its back should be a partition between school and bedroom, while they let a window into the north wall to insure the comfort of the sleepers. Halket's unsteady habits led to his dismissal from Rathen in 1725, and with his wife and three children he settled at Cairnbulg, some distance off, and was a more or less successful schoolmaster there for twenty-five years. In 1750 he removed to Memsie, becoming tutor in the families of Colonel Fraser and Sir James Innes, besides doing other private teaching. ...
