Hackberry is a town in Denton County, Texas, United States. The population was 2,973 in 2020. Geography Hackberry is located at (33.150134, –96.918702). It is neighbored by Frisco to the east and south, Little Elm to the north, and Lewisville Lake to the south and west. According to the United States Census Bureau, the town has a total area of , all of it land. It is served by the Little Elm Independent School District. Climate The Köppen Climate Classification subtype for this climate is " BSk" (Tropical and Subtropical Steppe Climate). Demographics As of the 2020 United States census, there were 2,973 people, 802 households, and 646 families residing in the town. Education It is in the Little Elm Independent School District. Little Elm Independent School District
The Little Elm Independent School District is a public school district in Denton County, Texas. In 2019, the Texas Education Agency rated the District with a "B" rating . History In 1865 a one-room log cabin was first used as one of the first attempts of public schooling in Little Elm. In 1895 the town built the King School Building to provide first through eighth grade education services. Hackberry, Little Elm and Dickson combined efforts in the 1930s to build the Little Elm Rural High School and it saw its first graduating class in 1974. In 2004, the new Little Elm High School on Walker Lane opened and the old site became Lakeside Middle School. In 2014 Prestwick STEM Academy opened its doors to K-8 students. In the fall of 2020, the district expanded yet again and opened two new middle schools, Lowell Strike Middle School and Jerry R. Walker Middle School. North Central Texas College
North Central Texas College (NCTC) is a public community college in Gainesville, Texas. It serves Cooke County, Denton County, and Montague County, Texas. History As with many of the early community colleges, NCTC began as an extension of the local school district. In NCTC's case, a branch of the Gainesville Independent School District known as Gainesville Junior College was proposed by Superintendent Randolph Lee Clark, who previously started a junior college that later became Midwestern State University.
