Habib Tanious Shartouni
Habib Tanious Shartouni ( ar, حبيب الشرتوني; born 24 April 1958) is the convicted assassin of the Lebanese president-elect Bachir Gemayel. Early life Habib Tanious Shartouni, a Maronite Christian, was born in a small village called ( ar, شرتون) Chartoun in Aley, Mount Lebanon. In the early 1970s, only a few years before the outbreak of the civil war, he was inspired and became affiliated with the Syrian Social Nationalist Party (SSNP). When the Lebanese Civil War broke out, he volunteered to serve in one of the SSNP stations in Aley. A few months later, he was advised by his parents to flee from Lebanon to Cyprus then to France where he attended a university in Paris and obtained a degree in business. Charoun
Charoun or Sharoun ( ar, شارون), is a Lebanese village located in the Aley District. Charoun is 31 kilometers away from Beirut and neighbors the town Saoufar. Its name derives from the Aramaic languages meaning the agricultural hills. Charoun is from the Jurd region, with an 1350 m altitude. It accounts two schools, one public school and one private school. Charoun has two industries with 5 or more workers. Charoun is one of the biggest villages in the Aley District, (9.8 square km), and wholly Druze. Amine Pierre Gemayel ( ar, أمين بيار الجميٌل ; (born 22 January 1942) is a Lebanese Maronite politician who served as President of Lebanon from 1982 to 1988. Born in Bikfaya, his father was Pierre Gemayel, the founder of the Kataeb Party. He worked as a lawyer, then was elected as a deputy for Northern Metn in 1970 by-election, following the death of his uncle, Maurice Gemayel, and once again in the 1972 general election. At the start of the Lebanese Civil War, the Phalanges were a member of the Lebanese Front, allied with Syria against the leftist National Movement. However, Syria became their enemy, while they started receiving the support of Israel. Syrians ( ar, سُورِيُّون, ''Sūriyyīn'') are an Eastern Mediterranean ethnic group indigenous to the Levant. They share common Levantine Semitic roots. The term applies particularly to serving a prison sentence in a prison. English law "Prisoner" is a legal term for a person who is imprisoned.
