Haarlem Baseball Week
The Haarlem Baseball Week ( nl, Honkbalweek Haarlem, before 2016 known as ) is an international invitation baseball tournament at the in Haarlem, Netherlands. It was first held in and has been held every other year in even-numbered years since . In December 2016, a few months after the 2016 Haarlem Baseball Week, 28th edition of the event, the organisation of the tournament announced that this had been the last edition and that there would be no new editions due to financial problems. A workgroup was formed to find sponsors in order to realise a relaunch, which succeeded after several companies and the municipality of Haarlem guaranteed an amount that would cover the costs of at least three new editions. The 2018 Haarlem Baseball Week, the 29th edition of the event, was won by Japan national baseball team, Japan, their fourth title. Baseball
Baseball is a bat-and-ball sport played between two teams of nine players each, taking turns batting and fielding. Alaska Goldpanners
The Alaska Goldpanners of Fairbanks are a collegiate summer baseball team which was founded in 1960 as an independent barnstorming team. The Goldpanners were charter members of the Alaska Baseball League at the league's inception in 1974. The Goldpanners play their home games at Growden Memorial Park in Fairbanks, Alaska, United States. They also host the annual Midnight Sun Game at their home venue. Like other amateur collegiate summer baseball teams, the Goldpanners operate in a similar manner to professional minor league organizations: playing a nightly schedule, using wooden bats, and with lengthy road trips facing advanced competition. The 2014 Haarlem Baseball Week was an international baseball competition held at the Pim Mulier Stadium in Haarlem, the Netherlands from July 11–20, 2014. It was the 27th edition of the tournament. In the final the United States won over Japan, becoming champions for the fifth time as the national team. Teams Due to difficult economic times, the organisation had to decide not to invite reigning champions Cuba. This was announced after the first four teams (Chinese Taipei, Japan, Netherlands, United States) had already signed their contracts. Other teams had also canceled their participation for various reasons, including the inability to send an up-to-par team. The 2010 Haarlem Baseball Week was an international baseball competition held at the Pim Mulier Stadium in Haarlem, the Netherlands from July 9–18, 2010. It was the 25th edition of the tournament. On July 17, the Netherlands won the tournament for the third time, by winning after 10 innings against Japan.
