''HaMerotz LaMillion 1'' is the first season of '' HaMerotz LaMillion'' ( he, המירוץ למיליון, ''lit.'' The Race to the Million), an Israeli reality television game show based on the American series ''The Amazing Race''. The first installment of the series features 10 teams of two with a pre-existing relationship in a race around the world to win ₪1,000,000. This season premiered on 5 February 2009 on Channel 2 with the finale on 11 June 2009 and was hosted by Raz Meirman. Business partners Shay Kahana and Guy Osadon were the winners of this season. Raz Meirman ( he, רז מאירמן; born August 15, 1977) is an Israeli model, best known as the former host of ''HaMerotz LaMillion'', the Israeli version of the American reality show, ''The Amazing Race'', which first aired on CBS in 2001. Raz Meirman became famous in his young years. His first job was a model, and he was featured in worldwide pageants and contests. Town Crier
A town crier, also called a bellman, is an officer of a royal court or public authority who makes public pronouncements as required. Duties and functions The town crier was used to make public announcements in the streets. Criers often dress elaborately, by a tradition dating to the 18th century, in a red and gold coat, white breeches, black boots and a tricorne hat. In English-speaking countries, they carried a handbell to attract people's attention, as they shouted the words "Oyez, Oyez, Oyez!" before making their announcements. The word "Oyez" means "hear ye," which is a call for silence and attention. Ashdot Ya'akov ( he, אַשְׁדוֹת יַעֲקֹב, lit. ''Ya'akov Rapids'') is a kibbutz in northern Israel. Originally founded in 1924 by a kvutza of Hashomer members from Latvia on the land which is today Gesher, it moved to its current location between 1933 and 1935. It was named after the rapids of the nearby Yarmouk River and James "Ya'akov" Armand de Rothschild.
