HMS Hever Castle (K521)
HMS ''Hever Castle'' was a constructed for the United Kingdom, British Royal Navy in the Second World War. Transferred to the Royal Canadian Navy before completion, the ship was renamed HMCS ''Copper Cliff'' and saw service as a convoy escort for the remainder of the war. Following the war, the vessel was sold for mercantile use and renamed ''Ta Lung'', operating under a Chinese flag. In 1949, the ship was taken over by the Communist Chinese government, rearmed and renamed ''Wan Lee''. Design and description The Castle class were an improved corvette design over their predecessor . The Flower class was not considered acceptable for mid-Atlantic sailing and was only used on Atlantic convoy duty out of need. Hever Castle ( ) is located in the village of Hever, Kent, near Edenbridge, south-east of London, England. It began as a country house, built in the 13th century. From 1462 to 1539, it was the seat of the Boleyn (originally 'Bullen') family. Anne Boleyn, the second queen consort of King Henry VIII of England, spent her early youth there after her father, Thomas Boleyn, inherited it in 1505.
