HC Rostov
The Hockey Club Rostov (russian: Хоккейный клуб Ростов), commonly referred to as HC Rostov are a professional ice hockey team based in Rostov-on-Don, Russia. HC Rostov play in the Supreme Hockey League and play at the Rostov-on-Don Palace of Sports. History In 2005, a local amateur under the name 'Condors' was established and was immediately successful, winning the Rostov Region Championship in both 2005 and 2006. In 2010 the team joined the Krasnodar League, where they played for two years. In 2013 the club, now operated under the name HC Rostov, turned professional and joined the Russian Hockey League. During their time in the Russian Hockey League (which was renamed in 2015 to the Supreme Hockey League Championship), HC Rostov were a dominant force, finishing 1st in the regular season rankings 4 years in a row, and winning the VHL-B Championship in 2015, 2017 and 2019. The Supreme Hockey League (SHL) (russian: Высшая хоккейная лига (ВХЛ), links=no, ''Vysshaya hokkeinaya liga (VHL)''), also known as the Major Hockey League or Higher Hockey League (HHL), is a professional ice hockey league in Eurasia, and the second highest level of Russian hockey. Though currently acting independently, plans were in place to convert it to a farm system for the Kontinental Hockey League (KHL)'s 2010–11 season. Grigorijs Panteļejevs (born November 13, 1972 in Gastello, Soviet Union) is a Latvian ice hockey coach and former player. Career The 5th choice, 136th overall selection of the Boston Bruins in the 1992 NHL Entry Draft, Panteļejevs came to North America and the NHL in 1992-93 after spending the past two seasons with Dynamo Riga. Upon his arrival in North America, diminutive forward went on to split his first season with Boston and their AHL affiliate in Providence before spending the majority of the next two seasons in Providence. After three seasons in the Bruins organization, Panteļejevs was released following the 1994-95 season only to be signed as a free agent by the New York Islanders in September 1995. Panteļejevs played only four games with the Islanders while playing the majority of the 1995-96 season with the IHL's Utah Grizzlies and Las Vegas Thunder. The Supreme Hockey League Championship (VHL-B) (russian: Первенство Высшей хоккейной лиги (ВХЛ-П), ''Pervenstvo Vysshaya hokkeinaya liga'') is an ice hockey league in Russia. Humo Hockey Club, also known as Humo Tashkent, are a professional ice hockey team based in Tashkent, Uzbekistan. Nomad Hockey Club ( kk, Nomad Hokkej Kluby), commonly referred to as Nomad Astana, is a farm team of the Barys Astana of the Kontinental Hockey League (KHL). Founded in 2007 as Barys Astana–2, the team changed its name to Nomad Astana in 2013. Formerly a member of the Supreme Hockey League, Nomad currently play in the Kazakhstan Hockey Championship.
