HC Forward-Morges
Forward-Morges HC is an ice hockey organization in Morges, Switzerland. They currently play amateur men's hockey, focusing as a strong women's and junior development club. Forward Morges formerly played professionally in the National League B, the second level of Swiss ice hockey, but withdrew during the 2005–06 season due to financial problems. Their first team was later merged and currently plays as HC Star Forward in the Swiss 1. Liga. History The official foundation of the association took place on 3 March 1956 under the name HC Chigny-Vufflens . All 18 founding members approved the statutes of the association. Without having an ice rink, the members initially trained on ponds or the ice rink Cheseaux in Saint-Cergue . Morges
Morges (; la, Morgiis, plural, probably ablative, else dative; frp, Môrges) is a municipality in the Swiss canton of Vaud and the seat of the district of Morges. It is located on Lake Geneva. History Morges is first mentioned in 1288 as ''Morgia''. It was known by its German name ''Morsee'' though that name is no longer used. Prehistory There were several prehistoric settlements along what is now the Morges lakefront. The largest and best known, ''Grande-Cité'', was occupied in the late Bronze Age. One of the wooden objects at Grande-Cité has been dendrochronologically dated to 1031 BC. Many of the stilts and building structures have been preserved in situ. A dugout of oak was discovered near the settlement and in 1877 half of it was recovered and placed in the Musée d'histoire et d'art in Geneva. National League B
The Swiss League is the second tier of the main professional ice hockey league in Switzerland, behind the National League. The winners of the league each season plays a best-of-seven series against the bottom team of the NL, and if they win, they are promoted, while the National League team is relegated to the Swiss League. Prior to the 2017–18 season, the league was formerly called National League B. The league attendance in 2018–19 was about 2,700 spectators. Olivier Anken (born 10 February 1957 in Morges, Switzerland) is a retired ice hockey player who played for EHC Biel in the Swiss National League A. He also represented the Switzerland men's national ice hockey team on several occasions in the World Championships and Olympics. He competed in the men's tournament at the 1988 Winter Olympics. He played his entire NLA career with EHC Biel, becoming the first player to have his jersey retired by the club. Martin Gélinas
Martin Gélinas (; born June 5, 1970) is a Canadian former professional ice hockey forward who played 1,273 games in the National Hockey League (NHL) for the Edmonton Oilers, Quebec Nordiques, Vancouver Canucks, Carolina Hurricanes, Calgary Flames, Florida Panthers and Nashville Predators. A first round selection of the Los Angeles Kings at the 1988 NHL Entry Draft, Gélinas was sent to the Oilers as part of the 1988 Wayne Gretzky trade before ever playing a game for the Kings. Gélinas reached the Stanley Cup finals with four teams. John Fust
Johann Fust or Faust (c. 1400 – October 30, 1466) was an early German printer. Family background Fust was born to burgher family of Mainz, traceable back to the early thirteenth century. Members of the family held many civil and religious offices. The name was written "Fust" until 1506, when Peter Schöffer, in dedicating the German translation of Livy to Maximilian I, Holy Roman Emperor, called his father in law "Faust." Thenceforward the family assumed this name. The Fausts of Aschaffenburg, an old and quite distinct family, placed Johann Fust in their pedigree.
