Hockeyclub 's-Hertogenbosch, also known as Den Bosch, is a Dutch field hockey club based in 's-Hertogenbosch, North Brabant. It was founded on 14 July 1937. The first teams (men and women) both compete on the highest level of the Dutch field hockey league, the Hoofdklasse. HC 's-Hertogenbosch won the title in 1998 and 2001. The women's team reign since 1998, winning a record number of nineteen titles in 21 years since then. 's-Hertogenbosch
s-Hertogenbosch (), colloquially known as Den Bosch (), is a city and municipality in the Netherlands with a population of 157,486. It is the capital of the province of North Brabant and its fourth largest by population. The city is south of the Maas river and near the Waal; it is to the north east of the city of Tilburg, north west of Eindhoven, south west of Nijmegen, and a longer distance south of Utrecht and south east of Dordrecht. History The city's official name is a contraction of the (archaic) Dutch ''des Hertogen bosch'' — "the forest of the duke". The duke in question was Henry I of Brabant, whose family had owned a large estate at nearby Orthen for at least four centuries. He founded a new town located on some forested dunes in the middle of a marsh. At age 26, he granted 's-Hertogenbosch city rights and the corresponding trade privileges in 1185. 2017 EuroHockey Club Champions Cup
The 2017 EuroHockey Club Champions Cup is the 45th edition of the premier European competition for women's field hockey clubs. HC Den Bosch and 's-Hertogenbosch hosted the championship tournament for the seventh time. The tournament took place from 2 to 5 June. Eight teams from six countries participated in the tournament. Jeremy Hayward
Jeremy Thomas Hayward (born 3 March 1993) is an Australian field hockey player. Hayward was part of the Australian team who won the 2014 Men's Hockey World Cup. The team defeated the Netherlands 6–1 in the final. Hayward was also awarded Young Player of the Tournament at this event. Hayward was selected in the Kookaburras Olympics squad for the Tokyo 2020 Olympics. The team reached the final for the first time since 2004 but couldn't achieve gold, beaten by Belgium in a shootout. Dylan Wotherspoon (born 9 April 1993) is an Australia men's national field hockey team, Australian International Field Hockey player who plays for NMHC Nijmegen. His normal position is forward. He won a gold medal in the Hockey at the 2018 Commonwealth Games – Men's tournament, 2018 Commonwealth Games. Club career Wotherspoon played his junior career for Redbacks Hockey Club in Murwillumbah before relocating to Brisbane in 2010 to play with Eastern Suburbs Hockey Club in the Brisbane hockey association, Brisbane Hockey League. Koen Bijen
Koen Bijen (born 27 July 1998) is a Dutch professional field hockey player who plays as a forward for Hoofdklasse club Den Bosch and the Dutch national team. Club career Bijen first played football when he was young but after nine years of playing football he switched to hockey and joined HDM. When HDM in 2017 was promoted to the Hoofdklasse, he was deemed not good enough and he left HDM for Klein Zwitserland. He currently plays for Den Bosch who he joined in 2020. International career Under–21 In 2019 Bijen made his debut for the national junior team during an eight-nations tournament in Madrid. Austin Smith (field Hockey)
Austin Charles Smith (born 20 May 1985) is a South African field hockey player who plays as a defender for Dutch club HC Den Bosch and formerly the South African national team. In late 2021, Austin Smith announced his retirement from International Hockey. Smith has been a substitute supervisor and teacher in the International School Eindhoven in recent years. Smith competed for South Africa at the 2008 and 2012 Summer Olympics, the 2010 and 2014 Hockey World Cups, and at the 2010 and 2014 Commonwealth Games. Alexander Stadler (born 16 October 1999) is a German field hockey player who plays as a goalkeeper for Dutch Hoofdklasse club Den Bosch and the German national team. Marc Lammers
Marc Lammers (born 15 March 1969 in Oss, North Brabant) is a Dutch former field hockey player and head coach. In the past, he led the Spanish women's national team from 1999 to 2000 and the Dutch women's national team from 2000 to 2008. Under his guidance, the Dutch team won the silver medal at the 2004 Summer Olympics in Athens, Greece, and gold at the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing, China. Later he also coached the Belgian men's national team until 2014, with whom he became European vice-champion. As a player, he earned five caps for the men's team. Women's EuroHockey Indoor Club Cup
The Women's EuroHockey Indoor Club Cup is an annual indoor hockey club competition organised by the EHF. It is the premier club tournament of Europe for indoor hockey and contested by the women's champions of the eight strongest EHF national associations. Format A total of eight teams competes in the EuroHockey Indoor Club Cup, the champions of those nations ranked one to six in the previous year's Cup and the champions of those 2 nations promoted from the previous year's Trophy, the second level. The eight teams are divided into two groups and play each other once. If a game is won, the winning team receives 5 points. A draw results in both teams receiving 2 points. A loss gives the losing team 1 point unless the losing team lost by 3 or more goals, then they receive 0 points.
