"Hush Little Baby" is a song by English rapper Wretch 32 which appears on his debut studio album, ''Black and White''. The song is track thirteen on the standard edition of the album, and one of eleven collaborations; it is currently set to be released as the fifth and final single from the album on 27 May 2012. The song, which features singer-songwriter Ed Sheeran, was produced by the team TMS and co-written alongside Iain James. The track debuted at number 87 on the UK Singles Chart and number twelve on the independent chart on 3 September 2011 following strong downloading from the respective album. The song is an adaptation of the American lullaby, ''Hush, Little Baby''. Jermaine Sinclaire Scott (born 9 March 1985), better known by his stage name Wretch 32, is a British rapper, singer and songwriter from Tottenham, North London. He was a member of the grime collective Combination Chain Gang, before forming The Movement with Scorcher, Ghetts, and Mercston. In 2011, Wretch 32 had three top-five charting songs from debut album ''Black and White'' and amassed over a million record sales, including the single " Don't Go" which peaked at number-one on the UK Singles Chart. "Hush, Little Baby" is a traditional lullaby, thought to have been written in the Southern United States. The lyrics promise various rewards to the child for remaining quiet. The simple structure allows more verses to be added ad lib. It has a Roud number of 470. History and traditional versions Like most folk songs, the author and date of origin are unknown. The English folklorist Cecil Sharp collected and notated a version from Endicott, Franklin County, Virginia in 1918, and another version sung by a Julie Boone of Micaville, North Carolina, with a complete version of the lyrics. The Wideboys are an English electronic music duo known for club remixes and for their own song "Sambuca", featuring Dennis G on vocals, which reached number 15 in the UK in October 2001. Another top 40 single, "Daddy-O" featuring Shaznay Lewis, reached No. 32 in 2008. Rudimental are a British drum and bass band, signed to Asylum Records, Atlantic Records and Black Butter Records. The band consists of Piers Aggett, Kesi Dryden and Leon "Locksmith" Rolle.
