Ralph Ince
Ralph Waldo Ince (January 16, 1887 – April 10, 1937) was an American pioneer film actor, director and screenwriter whose career began near the dawn of the silent film era. Ralph Ince was the brother of John E. Ince and Thomas H. Ince. Biography Ralph Ince was born in Boston, Massachusetts, the younger of three sons and a daughter raised by English immigrants, John and Emma Ince. Sometime after his birth Ince moved to Manhattan where his entire family was engaged in theater work; his father as a musical agent and mother, sister Bertha and brothers, John and Thomas as actors. Ralph Ince studied art with cartoonist Dan McCarthy and for a while worked as a newspaper cartoonist for the New York World and later magazine illustrator for the New York Mirror and The Evening Telegram. At times over his acting and directing career Ince would continue to contribute cartoons to popular magazines of the day. South Seas
Today the term South Seas, or South Sea, is used in several contexts. Most commonly it refers to the portion of the Pacific Ocean south of the equator. In 1513, when Spanish conquistador Vasco Núñez de Balboa coined the term ''Mar del Sur'', or South Sea, the term was applied to the entire area of today's Pacific Ocean. In 1520 Ferdinand Magellan named the same ocean the Pacific Ocean, and over time Magellan's name became dominant. The South Sea term was retained, but was applied only to southern areas of the Pacific. The term South Sea may also be used synonymously for Oceania, or even more narrowly for Polynesia or the Polynesian Triangle, an area bounded by the Hawaiian Islands, New Zealand and Easter Island. Leila McIntyre (December 20, 1882 – January 9, 1953) was an American actress and vaudeville performer. Early life Leila McIntyre was from Vermont, She was on stage from childhood. Career Leila McIntyre was a vaudeville performer, first as half of Linton & McIntyre, "The Chattering Chums", and finding fame as part of the Hyams & McIntyre comedy team with her husband, John Hyams. She appeared in several Broadway productions, including ''Mother Goose'' (1903), ''A Little of Everything'' (1904), ''York State Folks'' (1905), ''The Girl of My Dreams'' (1911) and ''The Dancing Duchess'' (1914). In a review of ''The Girl of My Dreams'', the ''New York Times'' noted that McIntyre had "a pretty saucer-eyed innocent stare and quavering treble" suited to her ingenue role.
