Hunter's Moon
The full moon is the lunar phase when the Moon appears fully illuminated from Earth's perspective. This occurs when Earth is located between the Sun and the Moon (when the ecliptic longitudes of the Sun and Moon differ by 180°). This means that the lunar hemisphere facing Earth—the near side—is completely sunlit and appears as an approximately circular disk. The full moon occurs roughly once a month. The time interval between a full moon and the next repetition of the same phase, a synodic month, averages about 29.53 days. Therefore, in those lunar calendars in which each month begins on the day of the new moon, the full moon falls on either the 14th or 15th day of the lunar month. Because a calendar month consists of a whole number of days, a month in a lunar calendar may be either 29 or 30 days long. ''Hunter's Moon'' is a BBC Books original novel written by Paul Finch and based on the long-running British science fiction television series ''Doctor Who''. It features the Eleventh Doctor, and his Companions Amy Pond and Rory Williams. Summary A poorly chosen casino game lands Rory in a fight for his life as he 'works off' a debt for a criminal conspiracy. Amy is lost in space and the Doctor finds himself lost in red tape with the TARDIS well out of reach. Rory's best hope is for the Doctor to impersonate a violent mercenary. Hunter's Moon (Kilworth Novel)
Garry Douglas Kilworth (born 5 July 1941 in York) is a British science fiction, fantasy and historical novelist, and a former Royal Air Force cryptographer. Early life Kilworth was raised partly in Aden, South Arabia, the son of an airman. Having an itinerant father, he travelled widely, both in Britain and abroad, and attended over 20 different schools before the age of 15. Kilworth is a graduate of King's College London. Career Kilworth went to military school and served in the Royal Air Force for 18 years as a cryptographer. On demobilisation he joined Cable & Wireless, an international telecommunications company, leaving them to become a full-time writer in 1981. His science fiction and fantasy does not fit any set formula, being more interested in the enigmatic and strange, with roots in folk lore. ''The Hunter's Moon'' is a fantasy novel by O.R. Melling about two teenage cousins, one Irish, the other Canadian, that set out to find a magic doorway to the Faraway Country, where humans must bow to the little people. It was published in 1993 by Amulet Books and is the first book in the Chronicles of Faerie, with the second being '' The Summer King'', the third being '' The Light-Bearer's Daughter'', and the fourth and final being '' The Book of Dreams''. It was awarded the Ruth Schwartz Children's Book Award in 1994. Plot Gwen, a Canadian, is visiting her cousin, Findabhair (finn-ah-veer), in Ireland.
