Hugh Shaw (football Manager)
Hugh Shaw (1 April 1896 – 16 August 1976) was a Scottish football player and manager. He played as a half-back for Hibernian, Rangers, Heart of Midlothian, East Fife and Leith Athletic in the Scottish Football League, winning a Scottish league championship with Rangers in 1927. After retiring as a player he became a coach with Hibernian, assisting manager Willie McCartney. Shaw became Hibs manager in 1948, and guided the team to league championships in 1948, 1951 and 1952. Shaw managed Hibs until 1961, and then had a brief spell as Raith Rovers manager. Playing career Shaw played during the interwar period, making his debut for Hibernian during the 1918–19 season. He played as a left half-back in the Hibs side that reached the Scottish Cup finals of 1923 and 1924, losing to Celtic and Airdrie respectively. Shaw left Hibs in 1926 to play for Rangers. Matt Busby
Sir Alexander Matthew Busby (26 May 1909 – 20 January 1994) was a Scottish association football, football player and manager, who managed Manchester United F.C., Manchester United between 1945 and 1969 and again for the second half of the 1970–71 season. He was the first manager of an English team to win the UEFA Champions League, European Cup and is widely regarded as one of the greatest managers of all time. Before going into management, Busby was a player for two of Manchester United's greatest rivals, Manchester City F.C., Manchester City and Liverpool F.C., Liverpool. During his time at City, Busby played in two FA Cup Finals, winning one of them. The ''Edinburgh Evening News'' is a daily newspaper and website based in Edinburgh, Scotland. It was founded by John Wilson (1844–1909) and first published in 1873. It is printed daily, except on Sundays. It is owned by JPIMedia, which also owns ''The Scotsman''. A sports coach is a person coaching in sport, involved in the direction, instruction and training of a sports team or athlete. The Scottish football champions are the winners of the highest league in Scottish football, namely the Scottish Football League (SFL) from 1890 until 1998, the Scottish Premier League (SPL) from 1998 until 2013 and the Scottish Premiership thereafter. The SFL was established in 1890, initially as an amateur league until professionalism in Scottish football was legalised in 1893. At the end of the first season Dumbarton and Rangers finished level on points at the top of the table. The rules in force at the time required that the teams contest a play-off match for the championship, which finished in a 2–2 draw, and the first ever championship was thus shared between two clubs, the only occasion on which this has happened. Airdrieonians Football Club is a Scottish professional football team in Airdrie, North Lanarkshire, who are members of the Scottish Professional Football League (SPFL) and play in Scottish League One. They were formed in 2002 as Airdrie United Football Club following the liquidation of the original Airdrieonians club, formed in 1878.
