A huerta is an irrigated area, or a field within such an area, common in Spain and Portugal. Huerta
A huerta () or horta (, ), from Latin ''hortus'', "garden", is an irrigated area, or a field within such an area, common in Spain and Portugal, where a variety of vegetables and fruit trees are cultivated for family consumption and sale. Typically, individual ''huertas'' belong to different people; they are located around rivers or other water sources because of the amount of water required, which is usually provided through small canals (''acequias''). They are a kind of market garden. Alternate definitions Elinor Ostrom has defined ''huertas'' as "well-demarked ''irrigation areas'' surrounding or near towns" (emphasis added).Ostrom, Elinor (2015). Comarcas Of Region Of Murcia
There is not consensus and agreement in the demarcation of the ''comarcas'' of the region and some of them varies largely depending on the comarcas proposal. According to La Verdad newspapers’ Region of Murcia Atlas, there are three main divisions corresponding to three different authors. Most agreed ''comarcas'' The following ''comarcas'' are the most agreed in regards to its size and demarcation. They are accepted to be in the same way by most authors or their changes depending on the minor versions. Altiplano It is located in the north and is 1,580 km2 in the area. La Huerta, Chile
La Huerta, or Huerta de Mataquito is a village (aldea) or small town near the north bank of the Mataquito River, in the Hualañé commune, in the Curicó Province, in the Maule Region, of Chile. It is 45 kilometers west of the city of Curicó. Nearby to the northeast is the Cerro Chiripilco and the monument commemorating the death of Lautaro in the Battle of Mataquito that is thought to have been fought at its foot near the Mataquito River.
