Hrefna Ingimarsdóttir
Hrefna Ingimarsdóttir (30 August 1931 – 26 September 2005) was an Icelandic athletic coach, trainer and educator. She was a pioneer in women's basketball in Iceland in the 1950s and the first coach of the ÍR women's basketball team which she led to three national championships. Early life Hrefna was born in Hnífsdalur and graduated from ''Gagnfræðskóli Ísafjarðar'' and then from the ''Íþróttakennaraskólanum'' at Laugarvatn Laugarvatn () is the name of a lake and a small town in the south of Iceland. Hnífsdalur
Hnífsdalur () is a small village in the municipality of Ísafjarðarbær, located between Bolungarvík and Ísafjörður. The literal meaning of the name is "Knife's Valley". Kópavogur () is a town in Iceland that is the country's second largest municipality by population. It lies immediately south of Reykjavík and is part of the Capital Region. ÍR Women's Basketball
The Íþróttafélag Reykjavíkur women's basketball team, commonly known as ÍR, is the women's basketball department of Íþróttafélag Reykjavíkur. It is based in Reykjavík, Iceland. History ÍR women's team was founded in 1950 and was one of the pioneers of women's basketball in Iceland as one of the founding members of the women's Icelandic women's championship tournament. It is also one of the most successful women's team in the country, winning a total of 11 national championships. After not fielding a team since being relegated from the Úrvalsdeild in 2004, the team was revived in 2017 and registered into Division I for the 2017-2018 season. On June 16, 2017, the club hired former player Ólafur Jónas Sigurðsson as the head coach of the team. Laugarvatn
Laugarvatn () is the name of a lake and a small town in the south of Iceland. The lake is smaller than the neighbouring Apavatn. Tourism Laugarvatn lies within the Golden Circle, a popular tourist route, and acts as a staging post. The town has a population of about 200, and lies predominantly along the west side of the lake. The lake contains geothermal springs under its surface, making it a popular swimming spot with some warm patches along the shoreline year-round.
