The Lettermen are an American male pop vocal trio. The Lettermen's trademark is close-harmony pop songs with light arrangements. The group started in 1959. They have had two Top 10 singles (both No. 7), 16 Top 10 singles on the Adult Contemporary chart (including one No. 1), 32 consecutive ''Billboard'' chart albums, 11 gold records, and five Grammy nominations. History In 1958, the stage revue ''Newcomers of 1928'' was produced, a nostalgia act which starred 1920s stars Paul Whiteman, Buster Keaton, Rudy Vallée, Harry Richman, and Fifi D'Orsay. The show required three male singers to impersonate The Rhythm Boys, the vocal group that traveled with Whiteman and his orchestra in the late 1920s, and gave Bing Crosby his initial fame. The three singers selected were Mike Barnett, Dick Stewart, and Tony Butala. Barry De Vorzon (born July 31, 1934) is an American singer, songwriter, producer, and composer. His earliest hit compositions were "Just Married" (1958), written with Al Allen and recorded by Marty Robbins, which reached number 26 on ''Billboard'' magazine's Hot 100 chart and number one on the Country chart; and "Dreamin'" (1960), written with Ted Ellis, recorded by Johnny Burnette, and charting at number 11 on the Hot 100. Dorsey Burnette (whom he was managing) and De Vorzon co-wrote several of Dorsey's hits ("Hey, Little One"; "Big Rock Candy Mountain"; "Red Roses"; "Noah's Ark"). Biography De Vorzon founded Valiant Records in 1960. During the 1960s, he signed the Association to Valiant, and produced its first single, a cover of the Bob Dylan tune "One Too Many Mornings." Eddie Carroll (September 5, 1933 – April 6, 2010) was a Canadian actor, who is best known as the third performer to provide the voice for Jiminy Cricket, a role he played for over 35 years. Career In Canada, Carroll studied at the Orion theater with fellow student Robert Goulet. After moving to Hollywood, Los Angeles, Hollywood in 1956 to work for NBC as a writer and producer, living as a resident alien in the United States, he was drafted into the US Army. He performed with the Armed Forces Radio Service and the 6th Army Chorus. In 1959, he took the professional name Eddie Carroll. In 1960 Carroll released a comedy album, "On Fraternity Row."
