"How Do You Sleep at Night" is a song written by Jim McBride and Jerry Salley, and recorded by American country music artist Wade Hayes. It was released in July 1998 as the third single from his album '' When the Wrong One Loves You Right''. Tony Wade Hayes (born April 20, 1969) is an American country music artist. Signed to Columbia Records in 1994, he made his debut that year with his gold-certified album ''Old Enough to Know Better''. Its title track, which served as his debut single, reached Number One on the ''Billboard'' Hot Country Singles & Tracks (now Hot Country Songs) charts, and three more singles from it all reached Top Ten as well. Hayes' second album, 1996's ''On a Good Night'', was also certified gold, although its No. 2-peaking title track was the only Top 40 hit from it. ''When the Wrong One Loves You Right'' is the third studio album by American country music artist Wade Hayes. Released in January 1998 as his final album for Columbia Records Nashville, it includes the singles "The Day That She Left Tulsa (In a Chevy)" and "How Do You Sleep at Night", which peaked at #5 and #13, respectively, on the ''Billboard'' Hot Country Singles & Tracks (now Hot Country Songs) charts. Also released were the title track and "Tore Up from the Floor Up", neither of which reached Top 40. The album was originally to have been released in 1997 under the title ''Tore Up from the Floor Up'', with a cover of Glen Campbell's " Wichita Lineman" serving as the lead-off single. After this cover failed to reach Top 40, however, it was replaced with "The Day That She Left Tulsa" and the album was re-titled, with "Wichita Lineman" not making the album's final cut. Jerry Salley is an American country and bluegrass singer-songwriter. Salley won SESAC's 2003 "Country Music Songwriter of the Year" award. Salley has been writing and singing in Nashville, Tennessee since 1982. To date, he has had 300 songs recorded in his career, including by Reba McEntire ("I'm Gonna Take That Mountain"), Wild Rose (" Breaking New Ground"), John Anderson ("I Fell in the Water"), Wade Hayes ("How Do You Sleep at Night"), and ten (10) top twenty gospel songs. Don Kirby Cook (born May 25, 1949) is an American record producer and songwriter whose work is mainly in the field of country music. Artists who recorded Cook's material include Barbara Mandrell, John Conlee, Mark Collie, Wade Hayes and Brooks & Dunn. Cook's production work began in the early 1990s when he worked with Brooks & Dunn. Musical career Don Cook began writing songs at age twelve and recorded his first demo at age fourteen. He played at various clubs and coffeehouses in Houston, Texas during his teenage years, and moved to Nashville, Tennessee through the suggestion of a friend. Through the assistance of Don Gant, he signed with Acuff-Rose Music.
