Hotter Than Hell (Kiss Song)
"Hotter than Hell" is a song by the American hard rock band Kiss, released on their second album of the same name in 1974. It was written by the band's rhythm guitarist Paul Stanley, and displays the heavy influence of the band Free. Despite being rarely performed during the years, "Hotter than Hell" has appeared on many of the band's albums. It has also appeared as a B-side to the album's lone single, "Let Me Go, Rock 'n' Roll". Background "Hotter than Hell", as Stanley has stated, was basically a rewrite of the Free song "All Right Now", due to the fact that Stanley was a big fan of Free and the song meant a lot to him. Stanley described the story of the song: " twas written about an encounter with somebody in a bar, and then at the end of the song I didn't know quite how to end it so I came up with this riff that was kind of like a Black Sabbath kind of riff and we tacked that on." ''Jigoku-Retsuden'' (地獄烈伝, which roughly translates to "Legends from Hell / Hell's Legends"), also known as ''Kissology'' and ''Kiss Klassics'', is a limited-edition CD/DVD set released in 2008 by the band Kiss, exclusively in Japan. ''Kiss Alive 35'' is a series of 2 CD live albums, each containing a recording of the complete set from a European show on the KISS Alive/35 World Tour from 2008. The second set of recordings from the North American leg of this tour was released in 2009. Album information The discs are recorded and distributed through Concert Live. There is a limited run of 1500 CDs for each recorded show. The setlists differ slightly between shows, but they are mostly made up of tracks from their 1975 live album, ''Alive!''. This is the first album cover to feature Tommy Thayer and Eric Singer in Kiss makeup. All of the ''Alive 35'' albums are now out of print. Some of the compilations are sold out as well. ''Kiss Alive! 1975–2000'' is a collection of live recordings from American hard rock band Kiss, released by Universal Music on November 21, 2006. This box set marks the debut appearance of Kiss' Millennium Concert performance, recorded on December 31, 1999 at BC Place Stadium in Vancouver, Canada. This was originally slated to be released in 2000 as ''Alive IV''. However, after Kiss' parent label, Mercury, was swallowed by the Universal/Vivendi merger, this version of ''Alive IV'' was shelved. Universal later agreed to Kiss using the Mercury label for the release, but this project was also shelved indefinitely. Instead, the band released the '' Kiss Symphony: Alive IV'' album on Kiss Records/Sanctuary Records in 2003. ''Double Platinum'' is the first greatest hits album by the American hard rock band Kiss, released in 1978. Many of the songs on ''Double Platinum'' were remixed and differed from their original versions: in the case of "Strutter," it was re-recorded with a slight disco beat and dubbed "Strutter '78." Other songs ("Hard Luck Woman," "Detroit Rock City") had sections completely removed, while the beginning of " Black Diamond" was repeated at the end, fading out at the start of the first verse and giving the song a "wrap around" feel. The Japanese single release of "Strutter '78" includes a different version to that on the album: faster and shorter, with an altered guitar solo, plus a more prominent hi-hat (cymbal) sound throughout.
