Hot Seat (game Show)
''Hot Seat'' is an American game show which aired on American Broadcasting Company, ABC from July 12 to October 22, 1976. The series was created by Heatter-Quigley Productions, Merrill Heatter and Robert Quigley, who were known at this point for their hit game shows ''Gambit (game show), Gambit'' and ''Hollywood Squares, The Hollywood Squares'' among others. Jim Peck was the host, with Kenny Williams (announcer), Kenny Williams as the announcer. Game play Two married couples played against each other one at a time. One of the spouses had to guess what the other would say when asked a round of three questions. The spouse sitting in the "hot seat" would have their emotions measured by an electronic Galvanic skin response, GSR device. Each question would have two choices. The player at the podium would select one answer and the spouse would respond to each choice with a negative response. The Prospect Studios
The Prospect Studios (also known as ABC Television Center [West]) is a lot containing several television studios located at 4151 Prospect Avenue in the Los Feliz, Los Angeles, Los Feliz neighborhood of Los Angeles, at the corner of Prospect and Talmadge Street (named in honor of silent screen star Norma Talmadge), just east of Hollywood, Los Angeles, Hollywood. For more than fifty years, this facility served as the West Coast of the United States, West Coast headquarters of the American Broadcasting Company (ABC) before the network moved its main headquarters to the Walt Disney Studios (Burbank), Walt Disney Studios in 1996. Lost Television Broadcast
Lost television broadcasts are mostly those early television programs which cannot be accounted for in studio archives (or in personal archives) usually because of deliberate destruction or neglect. Common reasons for loss A significant proportion of early television programming was never recorded in the first place. Early broadcasting in all genres was live and sometimes performed repeatedly. Due to there being no means to record the broadcast or, later, because the content itself was thought to have little monetary or historical value it was not deemed necessary to save it. In the United Kingdom, early programming was lost due to contractual demands by the actors' union to limit the rescreening of performances. Apart from Phonovision experiments by John Logie Baird, and some 280 rolls of 35mm film containing some of Paul Nipkow television station broadcasts, no recordings of transmissions from 1939 or earlier are known to exist. Don Ho
Donald Tai Loy Ho (August 13, 1930 – April 14, 2007) was a Hawaiian traditional pop musician, singer and entertainer. He is best known for the song "Tiny Bubbles" from the album of the same name. Life and career Ho was a singer of Native Hawaiian, Chinese, Portuguese, Dutch, and German descent. He was born in the small Honolulu neighborhood of Kakaako to Emily (Honey) Leimaile Silva and James Ah You Puao Ho, but he grew up in Kāneohe on the windward side of the island of Oahu. He was a graduate of the Kamehameha Schools in 1949 and he attended Springfield College on a football scholarship in 1950, but returned home to earn a Bachelor's degree in sociology at University of Hawai'i in 1953. ''50 Grand Slam'' is a game show from Ralph Andrews Productions that aired on NBC from October 4 to December 31, 1976. Tom Kennedy hosted the show, with John Harlan as the announcer. It premiered and ended on the same day as the show that preceded it on the NBC schedule, '' Stumpers!'', which was hosted by Allen Ludden, who appeared at the beginning of the premiere to wish Kennedy luck (Kennedy also appeared on the first episode of ''Stumpers!'' to wish Ludden luck). Merrill Gabriel Heatter (December 16, 1925 – October 8, 2017) was an American television producer and writer. He was best known for his collaboration with writer Bob Quigley for over 20 years and the formation of their production company Heatter-Quigley Productions in 1960. The company was responsible for the game shows ''Hollywood Squares'' and ''Gambit'' and the animated television series ''Wacky Races''. He also formed Merrill Heatter Productions in 1980, which is responsible for the ''Gambit''-based show ''Catch 21''. Early life Heatter was born in New York City, the son of Frances and Edward Heatter. His paternal grandparents were Jewish immigrants from Austria.
