Horodnia (air Base)
Horodnia (also Gorodnya, Horodnya, Horodnye, or Gorodnye) was a flight training air base in Ukraine located 4 km east of Horodnia. It was home to the 703rd Training Aviation Regiment flying 101 Aero L-39 Albatros, "C" model. The 703rd Training Aviation Regiment moved from Uman to Gorodnya in 1965; it formed part of the Chernigov Higher Military Aviation School of Pilots. The regiment was taken over by Ukraine in early 1992. As of January, 2020, it is reported as "abandoned" on www.openstreetmap.org. Soviet Air Forces
The Soviet Air Forces ( rus, Военно-воздушные силы, r=Voyenno-vozdushnyye sily, VVS; literally "Military Air Forces") were one of the air forces of the Soviet Union. The other was the Soviet Air Defence Forces. The Air Forces were formed from components of the Imperial Russian Air Service in 1917, and faced their greatest test during World War II. The groups were also involved in the Korean War, and dissolved along with the Soviet Union itself in 1991–92. Former Soviet Air Forces' assets were subsequently divided into several air forces of former Soviet republics, including the new Russian Air Force. "March of the Pilots" was its song. Horodnia ( uk, Городня ) is a city in Chernihiv Raion, Chernihiv Oblast (province) of Ukraine. It has a city status since 1957. Horodnia hosts the administration of Horodnia urban hromada, one of the hromadas of Ukraine. Population: Geography Horodnia is situated on both banks of the Chibrizh river. History For the first time, Horodnia was mentioned in historical literature at the beginning of the 17th century. There are different ideas about the origin of its name. The pride of citizens is three cannons presented by Peter I for the heroism of the people of Horodnia during the Swedish invasion in 1709. Until 18 July 2020, Horodnia was the administrative center of Horodnia Raion. Aero L-39 Albatros
The Aero L-39 Albatros is a high-performance jet trainer designed and produced in Czechoslovakia by Aero Vodochody. It is the most widely used jet trainer in the world; in addition to performing basic and advanced pilot training, it has also flown combat missions in a light-attack role. Unusually, the aircraft never received a NATO reporting name. The L-39 Albatros was designed during the 1960s as a successor to the Aero L-29 Delfín, an early jet-powered principal training aircraft.
