Horizon High School (Thornton, Colorado)
Horizon High School is a public secondary institution located in Thornton, Colorado. History Horizon High School opened in 1988 to relieve crowding at Northglenn High School. Following rapid growth in Adams County throughout the 1990s, Horizon High School quickly filled to capacity and by 1999 the campus had 20 portable classrooms outside the school's main building. Originally, the school only had grades 10-12. The graduating class of 1998 was the first freshman class to attend the school. Horizon's goals are simple: to provide learning programs for each individual student that fits his/her needs; to emphasize academic courses that challenge each student to grow intellectually; to teach students to think critically, master basic skills, develop healthful lifestyles and become active citizens; and finally, to install Horizon PRIDE in each and every student. Horizon High School is a public high school in Phoenix, Arizona in the Paradise Valley Unified School District. The school was established in 1980. The current principal is Shelley Strofus. About 2,400 students are enrolled in the school. The mascot is a Husky. History In 1978 the Paradise Valley Unified School District commissioned the Architecture Firm of Michael and Kemper Goodwin Ltd. to design the new six-building campus. Construction began the following year and was undertaken by the Del E. Webb Corporation and was nearly completed when the school opened in August 1980. The school's Auditorium was constructed in 1983. Additional new classroom buildings were constructed in 2003 and 2008. Evanston, Wyoming
Evanston is a city in and the county seat of Uinta County, Wyoming, United States. The population was 12,359 at the 2010 census. It is located near the border with Utah. History Evanston was named after James A. Evans, a civil engineer for the Union Pacific Railroad. Another source maintains it is named for John Evans, second Governor of the Territory of Colorado. The town was founded during the construction of the First transcontinental railroad. The railroad arrived in the area in November 1868, and Harvey Booth opened a saloon/restaurant in a tent near what is now Front Street. By December the rails had reached Evanston and the first train arrived December 16. However, orders were later handed down by the railroad managers to move the end of the line 12 miles west, to Wasatch. Within three days, most all of Evanston had moved to Wasatch, it appeared that Evanston would become another "end of the tracks" town.
