The Johns Hopkins Hospital (JHH) is the teaching hospital and biomedical research facility of the Johns Hopkins School of Medicine, located in Baltimore, Maryland, U.S. It was founded in 1889 using money from a bequest of over $7 million (1873 money, worth 163.9 million dollars in 2021) by city merchant, banker/financier, civic leader and philanthropist Johns Hopkins (1795–1873). ''Hopkins'' is a seven-part documentary TV series set at the Johns Hopkins Hospital, a teaching hospital in Baltimore, Maryland (US). It premiered in the United States on June 26, 2008, on ABC and is currently airing in syndication on the We TV Network. The theme for the show "So Much to Say" was written by songwriter Matthew Puckett. The series won a Peabody Award in 2009. Hopkins Academy
Hopkins Academy is the public middle (7th and 8th grade) and senior (9th–12th grade) high school for the town of Hadley, Massachusetts, United States. Founding The school was founded in 1664 with an endowment from Edward Hopkins, an English colonist who was Governor of the Connecticut Colony and a wealthy Connecticut merchant. Hopkins died in 1657 and in his will he set up a trust naming John Davenport, Theophilus Eaton, John Cullick and William Goodwin as trustees. Goodwin, who helped to settle Hadley, used part of Hopkins' trust to set up a fund for the then Hopkins Donation School. Three hundred pounds were to be disposed of from Mr. Hopkins' estate and ordered to Hadley for erecting and maintaining a school there. Hopkins School is a private, college-preparatory, coeducational, day school for grades 7–12 located in New Haven, Connecticut. In 1660, Edward Hopkins, seven-time governor of the Connecticut Colony, bequeathed a portion of his estate to found schools dedicated to "the breeding up of hopeful youths."
