Honeymoon (1947 Film)
''Honeymoon'' is a 1947 comedy film directed by William Keighley, starring Shirley Temple, Guy Madison and Franchot Tone. Plot Barbara (Shirley Temple), the sweetheart of a GI corporal, and Phil (Guy Madison), elope to Mexico City. Barbara discovers that her boyfriend, stationed in the Panama Canal Zone, not only has his flight been delayed but the two become trapped in bureaucratic red tape, including the need for a doctor's certificate, and may not have their wedding before he has to return to his military base. The US Embassy Vice Consul (Franchot Tone) goes to great lengths to intervene and help the young lovers, but frequent misunderstandings jeopardise his own upcoming marriage, including when Barbara's diving accident in a pool makes her want to pursue him instead. William Keighley
William Jackson Keighley (August 4, 1889 – June 24, 1984) was an American stage actor and Hollywood film director. Career After graduating from the Ludlum School of Dramatic Art, Keighley began acting at the age of 23. By the 1910s and 1920s, he was acting and directing on Broadway. With the advent of talking pictures, he relocated to Hollywood. He eventually signed with Warner Bros. He was the initial director of ''The Adventures of Robin Hood'', starring Errol Flynn and Olivia de Havilland, but was replaced by Michael Curtiz. During World War II, he supervised the First Motion Picture Unit of the United States Army Air Forces. Personal life He retired in 1953 at the age of 64 and moved to Paris with his wife, Genevieve Tobin. In retirement, he became a photographer. He died of a stroke in New York City. Julio Villarreal (7 December 1885 – 4 August 1958) was a Spanish actor who later settled and worked in Mexico. He also directed two films in the early 1930s.Taibo p.155 Born as Julio Crochet i Martínez Villarreal in Madrid to a family of theater actors, he moved to Argentina and Perú in 1900, then returned to Spain in 1921. After the Spanish Civil War, Julio moved to the United States and in 1932 he finally settled in Mexico City. John Grant Mitchell Jr. (June 17, 1874 – May 1, 1957) was an American actor. He appeared on Broadway from 1902 to 1939 and appeared in more than 125 films between 1930 and 1948. Early years Mitchell was born John Grant Mitchell Jr. on June 17, 1874, in Columbus, Ohio, the only son of American Civil War general John G. Mitchell. Corinna Mura (born Corinna Wall; March 16, 1910 – August 1, 1965) was a cabaret singer, actress, and diseuse. She had a small role in the classic film ''Casablanca (film), Casablanca'' as the woman playing the guitar while singing "Tango Delle Rose" and "La Marseillaise" at Rick's Café Américain. Maria Elena "Lina" Romay (January 16, 1919 - December 17, 2010) was an American actress and singer. She was born in 1919 in Brooklyn, New York, the daughter of Porfirio Romay, then-attache to the Mexican Consulate in Los Angeles. Romay performed for a time with Xavier Cugat before eventually retiring. She was featured on ''Cugat Rumba Revue'' on NBC radio in the early 1940s. Along with Cugat and his orchestra, she appeared in the films ''You Were Never Lovelier'' (1942) and ''Bathing Beauty'' (1944). Prior to singing with Cugat, she had sung with Horace Heidt's orchestra, billed as Josette, a Frenchwoman.
