Holy Smoke (Gin Wigmore Album)
''Holy Smoke'' is the debut album from New Zealand pop singer Gin Wigmore, released under the mononym Gin. Singles released off the album included " Oh My", "I Do" and " Hey Ho". The Cardinals play on every track and backed Wigmore on her subsequent tour. The album debuted at number one in New Zealand, and was certified Gold in its first week. The album was certified Platinum in its second week, selling over 15,000 copies. In September 2011, Home Improvement Retailer Lowe's began a new brand campaign featuring Wigmore's single "Don't Stop". Commercial performance ''Holy Smoke'' debuted at number one on the New Zealand Albums Chart, then slowly fell down the chart, before topping the chart again in February 2010. Gin Wigmore
Virginia Claire Wigmore (born 6 June 1986) is a New Zealand singer and songwriter. Featured on the Smashproof single "Brother" in 2009, Wigmore went on to release four albums '' Holy Smoke'' (2009), ''Gravel & Wine'' (2011), '' Blood to Bone'' (2015) and ''Ivory'' (2018), with the first three having been chart-toppers on the New Zealand Albums Chart. She is known for her high pitched and raspy voice. Career International Songwriting Competition Inspired by David Gray's album ''White Ladder'', Wigmore wrote her first song, "Angelfire", at the age of 14. Slide guitar is a technique for playing the guitar that is often used in blues music. It involves playing a guitar while holding a hard object (a slide) against the strings, creating the opportunity for glissando effects and deep vibratos that reflect characteristics of the human singing voice. Doyle Bramhall II (born December 24, 1968) is an American guitarist, producer and songwriter best known for his work with Eric Clapton and Roger Waters. He is the son of the songwriter and drummer Doyle Bramhall. Early life Bramhall was born in Texas and lived half of his life in Northern California. The Omnichord is an electronic musical instrument introduced in 1981 by the Suzuki Musical Instrument Corporation. It typically features a touch plate known as "Sonic Strings", preset rhythms, auto-bass line functionality, and buttons for major, minor, and 7th chords. The most basic method of playing the instrument is to press the chord buttons and swipe the Sonic Strings with a finger in imitation of strumming a stringed instrument. The Sonic Strings may also be touched in one place to create a single note. Farfisa (Fabbriche Riunite di Fisarmoniche) is a manufacturer of electronics based in Osimo, Italy, founded in 1946. He was a member of the bands Gamma (band), Gamma and Latin Playboys, and is currently the keyboardist for Crowded House. He has produced albums for several artists, including Richard Thompson (musician), Richard Thompson, Los Lobos, Suzanne Vega, and Vonda Shepard.
