"Hold On" is a song written and recorded by Canadian singer Sarah McLachlan. It was released in February 1994 as the second single from her album, ''Fumbling Towards Ecstasy'' (1993). In 2008, "Hold On" was included on McLachlan's greatest hits compilation, '' Closer: The Best of Sarah McLachlan''. McLachlan was inspired to write "Hold On" after watching a Canadian documentary titled ''A Promise Kept''. Speaking to the ''Huffington Post'' in 2014, she said: "I saw a documentary on a woman whose husband contracted the HIV virus and it was a great and tragic love story. She took care of him up until he died and her passion, empathy and strength was inspirational." Sarah Ann McLachlan OC OBC (born January 28, 1968) is a Canadian singer-songwriter. As of 2015, she had sold over 40 million albums worldwide. McLachlan's best-selling album to date is '' Surfacing'', for which she won two Grammy Awards (out of four nominations) and four Juno Awards. In addition to her personal artistic efforts, she founded the Lilith Fair tour, which showcased female musicians. It ranks the 40 most-played songs on alternative and modern rock radio stations. Introduced as Modern Rock Tracks, the chart served as a companion to the Mainstream Rock chart (then called Album Rock Tracks), and its creation was prompted by the explosion of alternative music on American radio in the late 1980s. The publication was founded by Walt Grealis in February 1964, supported through its existence by record label owner Stan Klees. ''RPM'' ceased publication in November 2000. ''Remixed'' is the first remix album by Canadian singer Sarah McLachlan, released in Canada on 4 July 2001 by Nettwerk and in the United States on 16 December 2003 by Arista Records. It includes various dance club versions of McLachlan's songs, remixed by DJs such as William Orbit, Tiësto, BT, and Rabbit in the Moon. Content ''Remixed'' features mostly new remixes of songs which originally appeared on McLachlan's studio albums: ''Solace'' (1991), ''Fumbling Towards Ecstasy'' (1993) and '' Surfacing'' (1997). ''Fumbling Towards Ecstasy'' is the third studio album by Canadian singer-songwriter Sarah McLachlan, released on 22 October 1993 in Canada, 15 February 1994 in the United States, 24 May 1994 in Japan, and 14 August 1994 in Australia. It was produced by Pierre Marchand in Montreal; McLachlan wrote most of the album while living in a small house near Marchand's studio. The album was an immediate hit in Canada, where McLachlan was already an established star. Over the next two years, it became her breakthrough album internationally as well. The Freedom Sessions
''The Freedom Sessions'' is an album by Sarah McLachlan which was released on 6 December 1994 on Nettwerk in Canada and on 28 March 1995 on Arista Records in the United States. The album consisted primarily of previously unreleased alternative versions and remixes of McLachlan recordings, plus a cover version of " Ol' '55" by Tom Waits. Many of the tracks were recorded during the same sessions as McLachlan's 1993 album ''Fumbling Towards Ecstasy''. In subsequent live performances, some of these songs (most notably "Ice Cream" and "Hold On") were reworked to match the style in which they were played on this album. The album was released in two versions: a standard CD, and an enhanced CD containing CD-ROM bonus material including interviews and music videos.
