"Hold Me Like a Heaven" is a song by the Manic Street Preachers, the single, it was the fifth taken from the album '' Resistance Is Futile'', was released on 4 May 2018. Background and reception The song was inspired musically by David Bowie's " Ashes to Ashes" with lyrics informed by the work of Philip Larkin. Nicky Wire explains: "This track sprung from reading Lines on a Young Lady's Photograph Album by Phillip Larkin, and his poem Aubade as well. It was the last lyric written for the record and I knew it had to be special. It's got one of my favourite ever lines, which is 'what is the future of the future/when memory fades and gets boarded up'. We’ve long been obsessed with writing something like Ashes to Ashes; I think this is the closest we'll ever get". Manic Street Preachers
Manic Street Preachers, also known simply as the Manics, are a Welsh Rock music, rock band formed in Blackwood, Caerphilly, Blackwood in 1986. The band consists of cousins James Dean Bradfield (lead vocals, lead guitar) and Sean Moore (musician), Sean Moore (drums, percussion, soundscapes), plus Nicky Wire (bass guitar, lyrics). They form a key part of the 1990s Welsh Cool Cymru cultural movement. Following the release of their debut single "Suicide Alley", Manic Street Preachers were joined by Richey Edwards as co-lyricist and rhythm guitarist, the band became as a quartet. "Ashes to Ashes" is a song by English singer-songwriter David Bowie, originally released on 1 August 1980 as the lead single from his 1980 album '' Scary Monsters (and Super Creeps)''. Co-produced by Bowie and Tony Visconti, it was recorded from February to April 1980 in New York and London and features guitar synthesiser played by Chuck Hammer. An art rock, art pop and new wave song led by a flanged piano riff, the lyrics act as a sequel to Bowie's 1969 hit "Space Oddity", depicting the astronaut Major Tom as a "junkie" alone floating in space. Bowie partially based the lyrics on his own experiences with drug addiction throughout the 1970s. Public Service Broadcasting is a London-based musical group consisting of four musicians known mainly by their stage names: J. Philip Arthur Larkin (9 August 1922 – 2 December 1985) was an English poet, novelist, and librarian. ''Resistance Is Futile'' is the thirteenth album by Welsh alternative rock band Manic Street Preachers. It was released on 13 April 2018 through Columbia Records. Supported by six singles, the most since their debut, the album was received with positive reviews from music critics. It debuted and peaked at number 2 on the UK Albums Chart. Writing and recording Early in 2017 Kieran Evans said that he was not working on the new album with the band, and that he had heard two new songs that sounded "very, very melodious"; the album was expected to be released later in 2017, but then they had to move to a new studio and it got pushed back. Band member Nicky Wire said that this was a very long gap for the group, and if the new songs were not good enough they would not come out.
