Melksham Without
Melksham Without is a civil parish in the county of Wiltshire, England. It surrounds, but does not include, the town of Melksham and is the largest rural parish in Wiltshire, with a population of 7,230 (as of 2011) and an area of . In 1894 the ancient parish of Melksham was divided into Melksham Urban District and the rural parish of Melksham Without. The northern boundary of the parish is the Roman road from Silchester to Bath; downstream from Melksham the Bristol Avon forms the southwestern boundary, and parts of the southern boundary are the Semington Brook and the Kennet and Avon Canal. The parish includes the villages of Beanacre, Berryfield, Shaw and Whitley, and the hamlets of Outmarsh and Redstocks. It also includes the outer Melksham suburbs of Bowerhill and The Spa, and the dispersed settlement of Sandridge which includes Sandridge Common. Charles Holbrook House
The Charles Holbrook House is a historic house in Sherborn, Massachusetts. Built c. 1870–75, this modest house is the town's finest example of Second Empire styling. It was built for Charles Albert Holbrook (1846-1899), whose family operated a large apple cider mill in town. The house was listed on the National Register of Historic Places on January 3, 1986. Description and history The house is located on the east side of South Main Street, at the northern edge of the rural village of South Sherborn. It is a 1-1/2, timber-framed structure, with a flared slate mansard roof and clapboard siding. A polygonal window bay projects from the right side of the front facade, with a flat-roof that has a bracketed cornice. The main roof line is also studded with paired brackets. The front entrance is shelter by a portico supported by slender square posts. A garage stands to the right of the house. Sylvanus Holbrook House
The Sylvanus Holbrook House is a historic house at 52 Albee Road in Uxbridge, Massachusetts. This story timber-frame house was built c. 1780. It was owned by Sylvanus Holbrook, one of the founding directors of the Blackstone National Bank. It is five bays wide, with a central entry that is a typical Federal style with flanking pilasters supporting a five-light transom window and triangular pediment. Second story windows are butted up to the eave, a common Georgian feature. The house was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1983. Richard Holbrook Houses
The Richard Holbrook Houses are a pair of joined historic houses at 29 and 31 Heard Street in Waltham, Massachusetts. Both are -story Greek Revival cottages, that once had detailed styling, which has since been lost or sided over. The two houses were built in 1844 by Richard Holbrook, a housewright, and are rare surviving examples of a once-common form. The houses went through separate ownerships until 1892, when Patrick Welch acquired the second after acquiring the first in 1886. He was probably responsible for building the central connecting section. The houses were listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1989. Holbrook Farm is a historic farm complex located near Traphill, Wilkes County, North Carolina. The house was built about 1826, and is a vernacular two story, three bay frame dwelling with Federal style design elements. Also on the property are the contributing log granary, log spring house, a log smokehouse, a log corn crib, a frame barn, and a board-and-batten two-room school dormitory that once served the Trap Hill Institute and moved to the property in the early-20th century. Description and history The Holbrook House is located north of downtown Brattleboro, at the northwest corner of Linden and Chapin Streets, across from the town common. Linden Street is a major continuation of Brattleboro's Main Street. The house is a roughly L-shaped -story wood-frame structure, with a gabled roof and clapboard siding. Its front facade, facing Linden Street, has a projecting three-bay section with angled sides, with similar single-story gabled porches set in front of each bay. Holbrook Square Historic District
The Holbrook Square Historic District encompasses the historic institutional center of Holbrook, Massachusetts. It includes three buildings: the Gothic Revival town hall, built 1878-79, the Stick style Winthrop Congregational Church (1878–80), and the 1881 Central Fire Station. These three buildings are arrayed along Mary Wales Holbrook Park, aka Holbrook Square. The square is located north and west of the junction of North Franklin Street (Massachusetts Route 37) and Union Street (Massachusetts Route 139). The district was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 2006.
