Hodayot
Hodayot ( he, הוֹדָיוֹת) (lit. "Thanksgiving") is a religious boarding school and youth village in northern Israel. Located to the west of the Sea of Galilee, it falls under the jurisdiction of Lower Galilee Regional Council. In it had a population of . History Hodayot was founded in May 1950 on the early site of Kibbutz Lavi, which moved half a kilometer eastward. It has 211 students, many of them of Ethiopian origin. One of the special tracks offered by the high school is a police studies program, with classes in criminology, sociology and crime-solving. The school also has a life sciences and agriculture track. Medicinal herbs are grown in the school's greenhouses, based on the teachings of Maimonides, and the students experiment with various composting techniques. Youth Village
A youth village ( he, כפר נוער, ''Kfar No'ar'') is a boarding school model first developed in Mandatory Palestine in the 1930s to care for groups of children and teenagers fleeing the Nazis. Henrietta Szold and Recha Freier were the pioneers in this sphere, known as youth aliyah, creating an educational facility that was a cross between a European boarding school and a kibbutz. History The first youth village was Mikve Israel. In the 1940s and 1950s, a period of mass immigration to Israel, youth villages were an important tool in immigrant absorption. Youth villages were established during this period by the Jewish Agency, WIZO, and Na'amat. After the establishment of Israel, the Israeli Ministry of Education took over the administration of these institutions, but not their ownership. Lower Galilee Regional Council
The Lower Galilee Regional Council ( he, מועצה אזורית הגליל התחתון, ''Mo'atza Azorit HaGalil HaTahton'') is a regional council in the Northern District of Israel. Lavi ( he, לָבִיא, ''lit.'' Lion) is a kibbutz in northern Israel. Located 310 meters above sea level and 10 minutes from Tiberias, it falls under the jurisdiction of Lower Galilee Regional Council. In it had a population of . History The kibbutz was founded in 1949 by young religious immigrants from the United Kingdom, who were from the British branch of Bnei Akiva, a religious Zionist youth movement. Many of the founders were among the 10,000 Jewish children who were taken to the United Kingdom from Germany as part of the 1938-1940 Kindertransport program following Kristallnacht. In its early years the Bachad movement raised money in the UK for the kibbutz as well as providing agricultural and educational training for Bnei Akiva and Bachad members in the UK on Thaxted Farm, Essex. Maimonides
Musa ibn Maimon (1138–1204), commonly known as Maimonides (); la, Moses Maimonides and also referred to by the acronym Rambam ( he, רמב״ם), was a Sephardic Jewish philosopher who became one of the most prolific and influential Torah scholars of the Middle Ages. In his time, he was also a preeminent astronomer and physician, serving as the personal physician of Saladin.
