Hockey At The 2014 Commonwealth Games
Field hockey is one of ten core sports at the 2014 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow. It was the fifth appearance of hockey at the Commonwealth Games since its inclusion in 1998. The competition took place between Thursday 24 July and Sunday 3 August at the purpose built National Hockey Centre on the city's famous Glasgow Green. Preparation The purpose built National Hockey Centre hosted the 2014 Women's Hockey Champions Challenge I and a men's four nations tournament (involving Argentina, Belgium, England and Scotland) in April 2014 as test events in the lead up to the Commonwealth Games. Glasgow National Hockey Centre
Glasgow National Hockey Centre is a facility for playing field hockey, situated on Glasgow Green in Glasgow, United Kingdom. The facility was constructed for the Commonwealth Games in 2014. The facility includes 2 Synthetic Hockey Pitches, Player Facilities and a Permanent stand for spectators. It also has office space which is the new home of Scottish Hockey. For the 2014 Games, additional temporary stands were erected to increase the capacity during the games. The facility is used for domestic competition and hosted the 2014 Women's Hockey Champions Challenge I The 2014 Women's Hockey Champions Challenge I was the 8th and last edition of the field hockey championship for women. Jacob Whetton
Jacob Thomas Whetton (born 15 June 1991) is an Australian field hockey player who plays as a forward for the Australian national team. Personal life Whetton is from Queensland and considers Brisbane his home town. He was born on 15 June 1991. He lives in Perth, Western Australia. His nickname is Whetty. Club career Whetton plays for the Queensland Blades in the Australian Hockey League where he wears number 21. He played three seasons for the Punjab Warriors in the Hockey India League. Khadangbam Kothajit Singh (born 17 August 1992) is an India field hockey player who plays as a defender or midfielder for the Indian national team. He represented India in Men's Hockey during the 2012 London Olympics. He is the third hockey Olympian - after Pangambam Nilakomol Singh and Ksh. Thoiba - from the state of Manipur, known for producing a disproportionate number of international-standard sportspersons. Rupinder Pal Singh (born 11 November 1990) is a professional field hockey player, who represents India in the Indian Hockey Team. He plays as a fullback and is known for his abilities as one of the best drag flickers in the world. Fergus Kavanagh (born 21 May 1985) is an Australian field hockey player. He plays Western Australia in the Australian Hockey League. He is a member of the Australia men's national field hockey team, winning a bronze medal with the team at the 2008 Summer Olympics and 2012 Summer Olympics. Kiel Brown (born May 1984) is an Australian field hockey player. He earned a bronze medal at the 2008 Summer Olympics and a gold medal at the 2011 Men's Hockey Champions Trophy. Personal Brown was born in May 1984 in Toowoomba, Queensland. He is from Western Australia. He is currently a university student, at Curtin University where he is studying psychology.
