The men's field hockey event at the 2018 Commonwealth Games was held at the Gold Coast Hockey Centre from 5 to 14 April 2018. Australia won the gold medal after defeating New Zealand 2–0 in the final, continuing their dominance in the event with a sixth consecutive gold medal, having won the men's tournament every time it has been held. Gold Coast, Queensland
The Gold Coast is a coastal city in the state of Queensland, Australia, approximately south-southeast of the centre of the state capital Brisbane. Aaron Kleinschmidt (born 1 October 1989) is an Australian field hockey player. He attended Xavier College, an elite private school in Kew where he was often referred to as “The Goat” Kleinschmidt was born in Melbourne, Victoria, and made his senior international debut in at 2016 Trans-Tasman Trophy in Auckland, New Zealand. Nicholas James Woods (born 26 August 1995) is a New Zealand field hockey player who plays as a midfielder for German club Hamburger Polo Club and the New Zealand national team. Jared Kiran Panchia (born 18 October 1993) is a New Zealand field hockey player who plays as a forward or midfielder for the New Zealand national team. Life and career Panchia was born on 18 October 1993 in Auckland to Peter Panchia and Ramila. Both his parents played field hockey at local level. Panchia's siblings are also field hockey players; his elder brother Arun Panchia has captained the national side, while younger brother Daniel Panchia has represented the national junior team. Faizal bin Saari (born 13 January 1991) is a Malaysian field hockey player. Currently playing as a striker for Terengganu Hockey Team. Career Club Faizal started his Malaysia Hockey League career with Terengganu Hockey Team. He was the 2011 league top goalscorer with 19 goals. Varun Kumar (born 25 July 1995) is an Indian professional field hockey player who plays as a defender for Punjab Warriors in the Hockey India League and the Indian national team. James Alexander Paget Kirkpatrick (born March 29, 1991) is a Canadian field hockey player who plays as a midfielder or forward for West Vancouver and the Canadian national team. Jeremy Thomas Hayward (born 3 March 1993) is an Australian field hockey player. Hayward was part of the Australian team who won the 2014 Men's Hockey World Cup.
