Hockey At The 2006 Commonwealth Games – Men's Tournament
Men's field hockey at the 2006 Commonwealth Games took place between 17 March and 25 March. The competition consisted of a round robin stage of two groups of five with the winners and runners-up of each group qualifying for the semifinals. All matches were played at the State Netball and Hockey Centre in the Parkville area of Melbourne. Barry Middleton
Barry John Middleton (born 12 January 1984) is regarded as one of the greatest British field hockey players in history. He played as a midfielder and forward for England and Great Britain and is the most capped British hockey player in history and captained his country for many years. Middleton was appointed Member of the Order of the British Empire (MBE) in the 2020 New Year Honours for services to hockey. Club career Middleton plays club hockey in the Men's England Hockey League Premier Division for Holcombe. Paul Wettlaufer (born January 28, 1978) is a Canadian field hockey player. Wettlaufer earned his first international cap for the Men's National Team in 1998 against Spain in Barcelona. Shea Joseph McAleese (born 7 August 1984) is a New Zealand field hockey player who competed in the 2008 Summer Olympics and 2012 Summer Olympics, 2012 Olympics. He was part of the New Zealand team that won the bronze medal at the 2010 Commonwealth Games. Youngest son of Dan and Margie McAleese. Has an older brother and sister, Jonathan and Aimee. Shea McAleese played at Uhlenhorster HC, Uhlenhorster Hockey Club in Hamburg from 2007 till 2009. With the Team he won the Euro Hockey League Euro Hockey League 2007-08, 2007–2008. Simon James Law Child (born 16 April 1988) is a field hockey player from New Zealand, who earned his first cap for the national team, ''The Black Sticks'', in 2005 against Malaysia. Travis Neil Brooks OAM (born 16 July 1980 in Melbourne, Victoria) is a field hockey forward from Australia, who won the gold medal with the Men's National Team at the 2004 Summer Olympics in Athens. He made his international debut in Canberra, on 15 February 2003, during the second Test of the series against the Netherlands, and played a starring role in The Kookaburras Sultan Azlan Shah Cup win in January 2004 with two goals in the final.
